Hello, everybody.
Anyone out there had any specific difficulty when connecting their hardware sequencer, drum machine, etc. to Cubase SX?
Luckilly, I have a friend with plenty of Creamware experience who kindly got me started, but I've since had many challenges trying to syncronize MIDI sequences from my Alesis MMT-8 and/or HR-16.
I've turned-on the 'sync' in Cubase and the MMT-8 is 'chasing' the Cubase clock.
I have had mixed results when recording MIDI
with this program. I hesitate to blame the Power Pulsar card because I can consistently get results when using DSP synths like the MINIMAX or LITEWAVE driven directly via the 'Scope MIDI Source.' The trouble arrives when passing through via the 'Sequencer MIDI Source/Destination' pathways where Cubase SX is involved.
I have begun a troubleshooting routine where I'm going to isolate individual units in my MIDI setup. Normally, there is a DMC MX-8
MIDI patchbay involved which would invite all kinds of opportunities to screw-up, but today I did the simplest hookup:
MMT-8 MIDI out connects to Scope (whip)MIDI input
Scope (whip)MIDI output connects to MMT-8 MIDI input
I have made sure the MIDI echo is off and have even disabled all other ways the MMT-8
can receive data, other than MIDI clock.
The sync works, recording occurs for some matter of seconds, and then... SCREEN FREEZE!
Anybody out there got any wisdom for me?
Many thanks for your patience reading this.
Sincerely,
new guy: Oldster
