Was it the nice town where I lived?
Caverswall, a nice little town with a church that was built around 1100.
Was it the kids that played and screamed during a school break in the morning?
Was is the strange guy that I got to know during my visit? He let me play with a sample collection called Symphonie Of Voices.
Anyway, all are elements of this track and I hope you like it.
Please excause the typical noises of a bad mp3 encoding sometimes in this track.
Cubase does a better encoding job than WaveLab.

that's quite an amazing opus, Chris

it kind of takes up where war of the worlds left off - a sense of future in the past? ....or something.

nice sound mangling.

what is the distorted lead played on, if you don't mind me asking? Also, i've always just used razorlame to encode mp3 - there doesn't seem to be any trouble with that one that i can tell.

Well,
I haven't even heard it yet (downloading as I type), but going by the comments from Paul & Wayne, I can guess what affected you. It was either:
1: The mountain biking through the lakes, sandpits and MUD or
2: When you broke into the malt whisky cupboard AFTER you'd finished off the ones you had as Christmas presents

Looking forward to hearing it Chris - life hasn't been the same since you went home (thank God)

Me, Paul and Neil on stage hidden behind towers of gear, that´s a wonderful thought.

Thanks Wayne, it is a long time ago since I´ve visit England before. Now, a bit older and maybe wiser I see England with other eyes of course, it was familiar to me but somehow strange too. Many cities in England dieing out or changing to something new.
Caverswall was a bit mysterious and peaceful, filled with tradition and history.
I don´t know but every emotion I got there is somehow in this track.
I used a FM7 lead sound played through the Warp guitar amp simulation. A perfect pair to play a dist guitar on the keys.

If everything develops right today, I can post an amazing track made by Neil and me during my visit. It´s about Beagle2 on Mars.

I'm a bit worried about the Beagle 2 track - perhaps too avant garde for "Z" ?

Anyway if you don't upload it in time, enjoy the party this weekend.

No way Neil,
we put so much work in composing and mastering the Beagle track within a week only. Also it was a special moment to create our first track together face to face.
Anyway, Beagle will be uploaded tomorrow evening soonest.

Oh yes, I can remember the good old modem time, that´s frustrating. But as you said in the past, it´s better than drumming our tracks through the boondocks or exchanging smoke signals.

Okay,
I've heard it.
Okay, we're good friends and sometimes partners in music.
Now I've always told the truth and I don't say I like things just because they're Chris Werner.
I've told you when I haven't liked tracks, or they're not my taste, so I'm going to be honest again - I've listened to it on headphones, I've listened to it through speakers, I've listened to it LOUD through speakers, I've listened to it alone and I've listened to it with Jan and my opinion:

SIMPLY SODDING AWESOME

I knew you were working hard on it, but this is simply superb in terms of quality (even at mp3 quality), stereo spread, mixing, musically (although some bits are "interesting" ), composition, production etc.
You've moved onto a new plateau in terms of engineering and producing tracks.
Next time you've got a "downer" on you, compare the quality of this to your earlier uploads from a couple of years ago (I'm listening to "Believe in Evil" as I write this).

Jan likes it too and says that you're wasted. You should be earning bucketloads of money (and don't forget that she's more into Clannad and Capercaillie).

This tracks is so nice... Indeed, the mix of it is very good... I would nevertheless like some changes in the timbre of the leading emulated guitar

first of all great sounds at the very end of the track. didn't really like the guitar kicking in (would have liked it more distant personally).
excellent soundtrackish feel to this one though.

on with the avant garde beatle!
