sync
Cubase midi clock is not the best in the world, you can connect it to slave a modular clock module, then connect the start-stop out from clock module to the start-stop input of a clock divider, but this is not the way I prefer to do it, because all stands on a dodgy clock, fluctuations are evident...
In all clocked patches I've done, the clock divider st-st. input is fed from the gate out of MVC through a "gate or" module, and the same thing for the reset inputs of all the clocked sequencer modules.
This way you can set the modular to it's internal clock, and it plays only when receiving a midi note (any note...hehe). If you draw well quantized notes in cubase, you can have a perfect sync'ed modular, with patterns always restarted with note-on messages.
This way is the best for sure if you have a fixed tempo.
But what if you have a changing tempo?
If you consider the fact that the tempo box on the clock module is midi controllable, you can assign a controller to it and draw it in cubase. with few attempts you can find the cc values for the different speeds (of course midi has only 128 steps for BPM 30 to 250, so little tweaks on the master track can be necessary, but who the hell uses clocked modulars on classical music?) and draw controller ramps.
Don't expect your clocked delays to be happy of tempo changes, they will crackle all the way, but this is physiological.

Forgive me for sounding stupid but what is a "gate or" module?

i can't figure this out.
Can someone please show me how to do this? perhaps a picture or something may help.
i'm trying to modify the 808groover so that when I send a midi on signal the drum machine will start to play. i hope to use logic's sequencer to start stop the mds8. i do appreciate those wise pulsar souls who help us ignorant ones.
thanks.

Hi again,
Thanks for the reply.
I still can't get it to work. Please check out this jpeg and tell me where I'm going wrong thanks.

I've been wondering how to build a patch combining both Flexor & "Standard" envelopes.alfonso wrote:
...but if you have Adern or no envelopes, just shortcut MVC gate out and MVC e-sync.
The Flexor ones require the 'E' and Gate MVC connections to be linked, but for the standard envelopes the connections are made between the MVC and envelope seperately.
Is it possible to use both in a patch?

I have a question about syncing modular devices. How to have a master modular and when you hit play in that some other modular patches to start in sync. And how to do this without the midi input on the midi clocks modules because there are some irregularities. How to sync several modulars with internal clocks ?

I found a solution for my question about syncing several modular patches with internal clocks. What i did if anyone is interested: make a modular patch with just a on/off switch and a controller assigned to the button. Connect the midi output of that modular patch to any modular patch we want to control. In these patches we have again a on/off switch with the same controller assigned and a gate or module, a constant val and a gate compare... oh shit i don't remember the connections... i'll post tommorow...
