I learn as I go.
Some one opened a very old door for me and I must thank all that helped crank it open:

You're exaggerating and you don't have to. My self-esteem is not down.

I've taken this picture 2 years ago. It's is a door of a gypsy house. I liked the yellow glow of the sun coming from the inside of the courtyard while the outside was enveloped in cold, dark shadow, and the look of the dilapidated, old door. It's not even too sharp.

This is me, a self-portrait with camera on a tripod, a few weeks before I quit my job:

Just in case anyone wonders how the Clowno looks like.

There is story about that window. I've spent a lot of time looking outside of it. Even looking at stars at night or lovers making out in the light of the moon. One day I even passed out looking through that window.

Hmm hard to tell although i am aware of your basic views ;)
I assume you said that naturalistic world view and especially enlightenment of ALL people on earth gives you hope.
or you just said: science

Which i would say is a bit too simple, but very comprehensible. ;)

I have to contribute here, too.

My idea would be: why does anything have to _give me_ hope? Isn't hope something everyone should carry inside and eventually give to others? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, life is a turning wheel, what is down will come up and vice versa, driven by an infinite momentum that is us ourselves. There's noone else turning that wheel for us.

;Maybe your religion gives you more than your wife and it pays your bills. But it`s based on JWHW who lived in a vulcan with some other and female gods. Where the preachers just made the most of a monotheistic religion just to get the most capital out of you. Do you really know the people of your church.? Some are childabusers some are sodomists and some are just fanatics. Or do you like spendig life on the basement of the lies from others? Do you like chitchatting about the weather and your fancy new Iphone or car and simply ignore the things you don`t like because yout preacher is not fucking the 12 year old in your frontal view?

hey, sorry if the truth hurts. i didn't make the definitions. i'm also not part of what you suggest. Satanism doesn't require baby killing, that's the cult of Molech, although Crowley does suggest that if you want power, baby killing is pretty cool. Satanism is the cult of the God Within, the cult of Self. YOU are the one espousing those principles that were laid out for you by those such as Gardner and Crowley. you will help to usher in this "new order". the cool thing is that it is appropriate, according to the ideology to say, "so what? i don't care. :P ", and you should. you post offensive stuff to rattle loose the ignorant fools' outdated and outmoded ideas. think of this post as more of the same.

wow what a long subject....

As a person who lives in one of the most diverse places on the face of the planet, i have a rather different view on religion than most of you.

Jaffa is near Tel Aviv, and it has Jews, Muslims and Christians living together. Three manuals in the same city.

First of all let me start of my own statement of belief:
Nobody knows if there is or isn't a god. and the one who tells you he knows, is either delusional or a liar. so debating the existence of god is as pointless as debating the existence of the yeti.

However, gods have a real effect on all of our lives weather we are believers or not. some atheists find it frightening. i find it comforting.

Banning religion is based on the idea that everybody is capable of making the right choice just like Capitalism, Communism, and even Zionism. the problem is that perfect ideologies cant exist in a flawed world (the world is flawed only to those ideologies who try to fix it i shoudl add).

some people cant deal with death, or their purpose of being - on their own. some people cant create a valid and decent sense morality for themselves, in short. some people just gotta read the manual to get by. even if its a silly manual.

i can give you all of the atheistic preaching on how religion is bad and corruptive, but some people do it better than i do - youtube Pat Condell, and Richard Dawkins for instance. but i don't really believe that. you know what? i preffer those 3 beaten up dogmas, than a new scientificaly based loony ideology that would be harder to control.

i like stone age dogmas, simply because they fill a necessary void that could otherwise be filled with something much more potent and dangerous. and i BET each and every one of you there is a mad scientist out there outlining a dangerous religion as a scientific experiment. and i BET he can do much better (for him and worse for us) job than people 2000-800 years ago.

so, indeed i am agnostic, and i don't have any respect for religious dogmas, just as i don't have any respect for laziness. that said, there will always be laziness, and banning laziness will never work. so you just gotta live with it.

and i'm sorry if i offend the religious here, thats not the point. just to give a different view on the subject.

Peace!

ESPECIALLY realism. real-ism is about real, or even real-istic, but it is not real.

...but i do like what you wrote about being agnostic. at least it is honest.

This thread was about to be thrown onto the cart, and it cried out "I'm not dead yet!"

Interesting and thoughtful post, Red Muze.

I hope Hubird is keeping on eye on this to see the thread finally get to 50 pages, after all this time. I am quietly proud.

I LOVE THIS!

this just NEEDS to be on a sticker:

"Realism - its just not realistic"

:D
ah the beautiful irony of life :)

and here is a list of isms,
the rules are:

you can select only one ism as your main ism
every ism comes with a selection of sub-isms of choice
you can not ask too much before you select
and after you realize the error you've made its too late to bail out.
if you dont select an ism, an automatic ism will be attached to you (cynicism)
live by the ism
die for the ism

let the games begin:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_belief_systems
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_philosophical_isms

hmm am i anti-ismic?
nah
isms are good. just not for me. too definitive. i like some ologies tho :P

Not all -isms are ideologies. Realism is a behavior, a mental state, while ideologies are formal schemes.

cubism isn't an ideology?

then why is there a manifesto?

also, ideologies can be said to be a state of mind. the word is IDEA and then ology, the study of. what is an idea, if not a sate or condition of the mind, even if the condition is formal?

a concept(has the konig's cane and con to it) is a special type of idea. study the concept and it's an ideology. 1+2=3 subject verb object participle preposition adjective...
