Why that ?
because it's a fully suported pro app that is never supposed to become obsolete....
Application obsolete ? it 's the processors that become obsolete, not the apps.... I have used an atari + notator until 2 or 3 years ago, sold it because the parallel port for the dongle was nuked....
and was still on SX until... today :-)
anyway... it doesn't have midi, may be they have superior audio conversion as they say (seems to be the only real thing in it).

So I will should rise my prices, that's the thing to do to reach consumers marketed brains....
Or make sure there is no support anymore and everyone gets fucked on xite and pays again... :-)
nice idea :D

They were in every showroom in Vegas for years also.
It's a local company that has Bowenesque type of customer support.
Usually I saw these attached to a Sony DMX console, which I believe was 48 tracks.
It works really well with surface controllers, and even the old Yamaha's like the O1V's and ProMix's of yore.
Another example of " old outdated " apps.....

sure. cubase vst is considered obsolete....
logic 5 is considered obsolete....

most app developers expect you to buy a new version in a year or so....

by who ?
its you, the consumer who need something else and bite on marketing stuff,... many musicians don't care if an app is 1 or 10 years old as long as it does the job....
But most people don't have a clue how things work, and don't want to understand and dig in them....
What you say is right though, that's how brains work and receive marketing messages....
but i get the message...

well, it unpacks into a folder of less than 20 MB - without even one single entry into the registry
it has the most responsive user interface of any DAW I've tried, not bloated at all...
but after all SAW is about an efficient workflow, which is NOT implemented by a professional programmer, but by a professional operator of a console in production who happens to be a talented programmer, too
THAT makes a whole lot of a difference :D
the program is worth every cent of it's fee if you consider time as money
to be honest, I'm old enough to consider it even more than that ;)

nice idea :D
from my point of view you're welcome to do so
not that my brain would get more adressed by the more prestigous price tag, but because your quality of work simply deserves it.
during all those years you've created an outstanding system for synth and processing

to be honest, with my 4 DSP cards I couldn't make much use of the later developements, but since I got a 15 chip beast things are looking not that tight anymore... :D
Be assured that your work is respected by me in the same way as Lentini's (maker of SAW) is

cheers, Tom

That's an argument! a kind of "reaper as it should be" (reaper is very schizophrenic in its interface and where some functions are to be found...)
Talent and ideas is very valuable to me. deep thought about workflow too, and the fact that i didn't notice on screen shots could be a proof that it is actually well done.
And yes, I think too that the value given to time is acquired with age, when time goes faster and becomes a scarce resource....
I understand better now :-)

I don't know if this is an appropriate thread for my question or not.......? I use Cubase.

I've just ordered Steinberg's Cubase 5 update. It occurred to me that the Scope ASIO fix which was posted over on Sonic Core's site was for Cubase 4.x - and now I'm wondering if that'll work OK with the new Cubase 5 version? And for that matter whether Platform 5 will be OK alongside Cubase 5?

I appreciate any knowledge available on this question.... my thanks in advance

wrong thread (you should create a new topic for this, I think this "General Discussion" forum is ok).

I finally upgraded to Cubase 4, running very well, and balance of old SX 1 / 2 track is good.
I don't even use the special Sonic Core ASIO driver because i am in 44.1 sampling rate.
I am also happy to have new Eqs with bigger displays.... didn't have the time to explore the rest like warp functions and things like that...

what is striking is not cubase ratio (it's the first to have released vst/asio)
it is the consistency of the other "big names" , there is no "2nd" but several of them....
Confirms theories even on that small scale sample :-) .

But not a true demographic sample, since <ahem> Profools and a few others are even listed.

I can see somewhat of a bias here.

Not to mention that most peoples' 'favorite' is normally what they use, but in many cases it won't be based on having tried all of the different options...

FWIW, I think you might possibly get a better idea of people's taste in sequencers if you split it up into:-

- What software do you use for hard disk recording.
- What software do you use for midi recording &/or sequencing.
- What hardware sequencer/s do you use or would like to use, if any.

It wouldn't have changed much, except more 1% or 2% here and there.
What would have been really cool is to make correlations on various things, but it is not possible here .
just a quick polls, nothing scientific.

What if a percentage of the votes for Cubase came from Steinberg employees? (just kidding Mehdi) :D

It would mean they are better organized :-)
(So, after all, it is probably better that there was no answer with protools, as we know there have been trolls lurking around since 1998 for guerrilla marketing purposes ) ..eh, i couldn't resist neither ;-)
