talk about file format incompatibilities...
resaved all files in cooledit and uplaoded yet another one. See if this one works. The filename should read "kensuguro_resaved.zip". If this doesn't... I'm kind of stumped.

Hey Ken,
I think these are better. Downloaded to my laptop and they played fine in mediaplayer.
I'll power up my studio in a little while and try them out there, in SX/Wavelab.
Thanks Ken!

Great! These work well. I now have all of our tracks, colletively, in an SX project, and it's really fun just playing thru and muting/unmuting various tracks. Cool how it all just fits together
Looking forward to new tracks from braincell, et al.
By the way, new peoplez, if you haven't already, I recommend NOT listening to the other guy's example MP3's before creating your own tracks. Best to avoid coloring your creativity by hearing someone else's stuff!

Good hint John,
I did it but it colored my files in no way.
To be honest, I made my files in a different style intentionally to make the things more interesting.
They will be up this evening.
cheers

If it was 5 files only it would be more of a challenge. I don't understand why you add the extra files option.

It is great to see everybody exited about it! Nevertheless, don't forget you have quite a few weeks left to finish your song, till 14th of January 2004 in fact, so don't rush, take your time to make the best song you can do with all this tiny files.
Incentivated by the growing number of participants, I will upload in a coumple of minutes about 30 little voice files I've recorded yesterday using Pitch Shift S, I came up with pretty amazing effects and a warm voice. I'm going to add a little note, to tell you want I intended to do.

For the voices stuff, I wanted to use WaveZip, cos it is almos 18mb, but WaveZip does not accept 24bits files, not the free version, you have to upgrade it to use with 24bit files, which is fair of course, but I can't do it now, so I posted them into a traditional Zip file.
We are there...

Just a note: If anyone with 56k wants to participate, this is all adding up, and will already take hours to download. My personal thought is, that sticking to 16bit and doing nondestructive compression would be a good general rule. Also Nestor. If you need to buy the program to compress 24bit files, then the person decompressing them may need to buy it too. I may be wrong, but it was as initial thought.

I guess you're right, It could have been done with 16bits only, but this was left to a free choice...

If I remember right, it changed somehow without being mentioned. I think it was, at one point, stated, that it should be 16bit compressed. It is not a problem to me, I can download with a max speed of 500KB/4000Kb per second from the university. But if more people get time to make files before timeout, then it will all add up.

I'll upload them to 16bits when I have some time, cheers.

Ahh, sometimes it is good to wait, all my files are in 24bit but now I´ll dither them down to 16bit(unlucky with the WaveZip on 24bit wavs).
I have become so comfortable with DSL that I´ve doesen´t mentioned the modems anymore.
Thanks Nestor for the voices stuff, that will be another dimension for our contest.
I´m nearly finished with my files, yes this is going very interesting.

Ok Immanuel, 16bits voce files are up in the web to download. I lfet both the 24bits and the 16bits, so people can chose which one to donwload.
BTW: It is my second try at singing in English, so I don't know which is the result... perhaps it is just fun and nothing else, I don't konw.
See you later Z people!

Nobody else interesting in joining the party with us? I hope you are... If you are, please, get to read the thread, it's a bit long, but you can just go to the last page, the number 7 to get all the updated stuff.
