I'm glad to be of assistance.
I got me a laptop 2 months ago with Windovs XP. Otherwise i would never have known.
Kind of funny, cause i am a Mac man by heart.
And i was the one with the solution!!!!
Congratulations.

Ok, I have the same mobo than you and installed XP. If you've done this right, sorry for repeating, but things are getting unclear in this thread...
-When you boot from your cdrom to install xp, be sure to select "standard pc" (alone) right at the beginning of the install, as explained previously.
-Once you've gone through all the install process, update the chipset, ata, etc. drivers and the bios. Be sure you reboot after each driver update. (I installed the soundcard before doing these upgrades and had LOTS of pops and clicks.)
-After investigation, I plugged my CW card in the fifth pci slut, but it seems that the first one is as good.
-Then, in the bios, I assigned irq 9 to the pci# corresponding to my card and disabled various unused ports (I could tell you exactly which ones if you want).
-Only after all this my system begun to work correctly, after 5 months of struggle!!

If I forgot anything, please anyone, complete my list!

Despair not, bro! You'll work it out!
