Well, I'm certainly no sound expert and my judgement may have been clouded by the excitement of all the new stuff

but I still thought it sounded better than before. I do think the mixers are not totally transparent, remember the phasing problems Ronaldmeij and some others talked about? Obviously, the software coding of the mixer has an effect on the sound.
Anyone care to give some "expert" opinions?

v3 is cool, yes and propack is necessary just because of the mixer. I take it as a charge for the "final" update. Sound is maybe not better, but richer. With lightwave+vectron player there are new colours in the sound. Before it was pulsar with a spice of waldorf, now prophet adds some more. The CW-GUI got better, but still is not yet perfect. Still leftovers in mouse handling/control. Think we have to wait for 3.1 and will continue then. (Remember Murphy: Nothing is perfect before Version 3.1) and we all remember the magic number for GUIs: 3.11.
But the look IMHO is now much more professional. I prefere the look of lightwave that one of inferno+co.
Better sampleplayer as well, but what happened to FM??? (Sniff...)
And MIDI? Hey, hey seems to function now! No more lost ones, can it be true?
Well then...
Happy pulsaring

Well, you can still use the FM One in v3.11, along with Poison, and a number of Modular patches, including the excellent YM2151+, so I don't think we've really lost anything have we?
The synths in v3.0 have all been updated to use the new preset file system (and probably had some other modifications made for XTC) but all the old synths should still work fine in v3.0.

The only thing is, I only have 4 DSP's! NOT ENOUGH!!! I'll go sell my granny for a Pulsar 2 SRB now!

No seriously!

i know what you´re talking about... i have six dsp´s and now when i got the masterverb (great thing), i find that i need definetively more...
well, a luna for beneath 400 € is a great deal then, i think...
v3 is cool, very cool, but i´d like to know more about this phase-problem with the mixers, some serious people are complaining. with v3 i used the new dynamic mixer always (an absolute substitute for the bugmixer), but i didn´t hear anything like phase cancellations...?
what do i need to test this? i remember there was a phase correllation meter out there...?

It´s running with loads of bugs on my system, the "ASIO2 24 source" doesn´t work properly on my machine, even worse the corresponding "dest" (bad drop-outs and bitstream errors), the "wave source" has a definitely too high latency and seems to be unstable in changing samplerates, the XTC-mode doesn´t start as it should, some graphical errors in OS-mode, disappearing menues, errors when switching between different devices, pulsar doesn´t work in background (I got no idea why), sometimes I get an error message saying "nil reference on the left side of ´.´" and "No DSP placement found", what else shall I say? If I had known what awaited me in V3, I´d rather kept on waiting for the next Version. No kidding.

I'm not so excited anymore either. I'm often getting crashes on exit. This is reduced if I choose to save on exit - even though I've already just saved.
And now on a recent project I'm getting "runtime errors" and Pulsar shuts down.
Funny, but it's like V3 is gradually deteriorating on my system....
