Yes, I think I know what you mean Gary. For instance, I wouldn't mind a friend or family member making money from selling an unwanted gift I'd given them. Likewise, you probably couldn't care less if a complete stranger bought a guitar from you ...then sold it some time later for a massive profit. You might even be happy for them. Then again, neither is an example of exploitation. I guess it just depends on the circumstances.
For instance you probably wouldn't be too happy with your ISP if they sold information regarding your browsing habbits or your credit card company did likewise with your purchasing info and all you get in return is SPAM and junk mail
That sort of thing happens all the time. Even the government is getting in on the act. They might say they didn't mean to leave your personal info on the bus/train etc. but it still happens and you can be sure it's no accident.
Some ISP's are actually openly admitting it these days. Then they have the cheek to warn you about identity theft/fraud
Getting back to the point in question ...Personally I don't mind people making a couple of cents because I click a link on the web. I just take that for granted nowadays. If the link itself isn't misleading, I don't really see the problem.

Surely prostitutes often say the same? Not that I'd know.. we don't have their sorts around these parts.
