Hello,
I just had a similar problem...I'm not sure if it's exactly the same, but I'll post what I did in case it helps.
When I loaded Logic with SFP in the background, it kept telling me that it was unable to load Creamware Midi Driver 2 (or something to that effect).
Using some of the info I'd gleaned from this website, I went into the device manager, went to the settings of the Pulsar 2, and set the # of midi devices to 1 (from it's default, 2). Then, I went into the win.ini file (via the "msconfig" command), and disabled any checkboxes in the Logic tree that said "Creamware Midi In Out 2"

yes, you could have ignored that message with the "no more warnings" button and everything should still have functioned properly.

I went into the device manager, went to the settings of the Pulsar 2, and set the # of midi devices to 1
I found mine was set to 4 so I tried cutting it down to 2 and then 1 but both times I got a bluescreen when I clicked OK. Something not right. It said something about ks.sys - don't know what that is.

corrupt install, possibly the os.
back up settings and personal files and start fresh.

Ok thats an old one!
Ib stumbled over it when first working with XP.
when you add an extra wave driver(this also happens when you just load something in just once!!) the os will automatically add an extra midi seq as well.
Logic needs to have the same number of seq midi dests and sources as the os.
so if your os changed it somehow to say 4 and there are just 1 or 2 in your project,yep no midi!
solution: make a standard project having the same number of seq midi dests as sources (say 4 or 6 or so of both) save this as your startup project and be sure all you projects have this amount of seq midi sources and dests in it even if you do not use them at all!!!
ditch one and midi will stop working again.

yes, unless you choose "no more warnings" when logic gives you the warning at startup. things will work normally, logic will just have the actually used midi ports available...

Thankyou - that did it. I just needed to add 2 more midi dests to my default project - didn't even need to connect them up. Then for good measure I deleted all the entries from win.ini and let Logic find them all again and now it's working fine. This should be added to the knowledge base (tips and tricks or something) as although you say "it's an old one" I've scoured this site and the web and nowhere have I come across this advice before.

well, i have the midi working now (im using 1 midi source), but i have just figured out that the audio devices had to be connected in the XTCproject as well.. Asio, PS analog dest. etc etc otherwise there would be just no sound. for some reason i can't connect the Ps analog source to Asio dest, it means i cant record external audio source in xtc mode or what? now; how comes i just see no 'xtc' in vst insert plugins in Logic audio, except the useless VZRecording one??? (i have installed them properly at the begining in the right directory and i see them there) Do they all have to be present as well in the goddam XTCproject ?

XTC mode with Logic 5.x will result in you having to manage latency issues manually. I think that audio tracks and basic audioinst objects will compensate manually (if you've activated compensation in preferences) but I recall XTC under Logic being not worth the effort (then again I don't really use XTC anyway). Cubase Sx2/3, Sonar3+ & Samplitude 7.x+ would all be better matches for XTC mode imo.

I am glad I could offer some help here.
But that's why a couple of years ago I was
offering support for creamware also for clients of other dealers and even in some cases directly for CW.
I do not do that much with creamware these days as i am seriously into techno,but the knowledge is still there and i still offer help.

Oh yes and XTC-mode forget it for now.
I know it has advantages like mackie-control support but it is just not stable enough for pro use.
Although i am going to try a setup wih Fx-teleport to run the card and plugs in a different pc.
As soon as i tried it i'll post the results of this experiment here.But for now i am waiting to get my magma-rig working to add multiple screen support combined with multiple user support.
