it's called idioms, I belive

Sometimes they are not idioms but phrases that some people say as my wife says:

"don't compare shit to apples" - something is very poor quality

"tears are leaking on my back" - it's so funny

etc

That's what I mean! Since I am "up the hill" now, it is easier to go down than to continue climbing up!
Maybe so, but never say you're an 'up-hill gardener' whatever you do...

Whats an "up-hill gardener"? Does it mean that "I go the letter" as we say in Greek? (to go the letter= to be gay)

If you "give up" it means you abandon something, or surrender it. You might "give up" your wallet to a thief. It's also common to use this when you have stopped some bad habit: "I have given up cigarettes".

To "give in" means you accept something as inevitable. "I have given in to cigarettes" means that you accept that you will always be a smoker. They have beaten your will.
But if you have a verbal debate with someone, you can say "I give up"?

In a verbal debate you can "give up" or "give in". The difference is very slight.

If you "give up" in a debate it means that you can't be bothered to argue anymore.

If you "give in" it means you basically accept whatever the other side is saying.

This is fascinating

Huub, lololololol

In our dictionary when we want to stress something like in English, you say, oh my god (we have the same phrase, BTW), shit!, damn! so we can say - holender!
