I was having trouble today in sending MIDI to insert effects on the STM2448. STM gets the MIDI signal, but the insert effects don't. Particularly, the MidiPole S isn't getting any MIDI signal, even when set to Omni. (and STM does) My guess was that I could send something on chan 2, and then set up MidiPole to chan2, and then I'd be able to retrigger its LFO.

Is there a specific way I have to do this? Or is it one of those obvious bugs that weren't fixed?

I haven't tried this but... maybe use a Multi Effects box as the insert (and put the Midi Pole S inside the Multi Effects)?

In any case good luck Ken!

wow.. I'm surprised not too many people have this problem.. it seems like it's one of the more obvious ones to me.

Anyway, I'll try to multi workaround and see if that helps.

I've never had any problems sending MIDI to inserts, so it might be a device-specific thing. Have you tried it with other insert effects?

Worst case, there's a MIDIizer plugin floating around (by earlyfirst I think) that will let you send MIDI to effects that don't have a MIDI input. You could load Midipole in it outside the mixer. I guess it's not too practical if you have other effects before the Midipole in the chain tho.
