xp tweak

Somewhere on this forum I found some XP tweaks that I performed. One of the tweaks walked you through each step,and told you to be sure to check a particular option or your OE would be very slow.I checked the box and my OE is now very annoyingly slow. I can't seem to find the thread again,and I don't remember the tweak. Anyone have a clue how I can correct this?

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and see what process is taking the most time. That would lead you to the offending application.
It could also be that the OS is caching exesively. There could be many things.
What exactly is slow?
What is your OS and what are your PC's specs?
