Does anyone know the difference between connecting a converter box through SPDIF or AESBEU? If one uses the AESBEU,that unit has to be the master.I'm wondering if there is any difference in quality if I use the SPIDF output,so I can continue to use Scope as the master.

there should be no real difference.
are you sure about that master/slave relationship?

Try this article from Rane. Spec-wise there's really not much difference, just a data bit that says "Hi, I'm AES" (or vice versa).

Most of the time I just use my A16U,but whenever I put the Lucid AD9624 in the setup,(connected AESEBU)I couldn't get anything to work unless I made the Lucid the master. After much frustration, I finally read somewhere in the SFP manual, that anything connected to AESEBU must be made the master clock. If I use the SPDIF output I could then make SFP the master.I've never tried using Cubase SX as master. I imagine it would just be a matter of who has the best clock.Or it could be a question of what is the best thing in the chain to make master, your converter box,SFP,or your sequencer.Anyone have any ideas?
