I get this flanging/flamming problem with AKAI drum kits in the STS4000. The drum hits flange on a regular basis when played from the keyboard or even a sequencer. Any tips..

sounds like midi note echoing - do you have the "thru" function of your seq. turned OFF? if not, I bet that is you prob . . .

Check out Your panning settings on mixer. Sometimes stereo drum sounds "flanges" if both channels are panned on center.

How do I turn off the MIDI THRU function in Logic audio?

Finally, make sure you aren't sending the sound out BOTH the main-stereo-STS ouput, and the individual outs, or you might get phasing this way, too.
