I have a pulsar1 and a creamware a16 a/d d/a convertor that im using
with all four adat connectors to provide all available 16 mono ins
and outs on the a16. I recently purchased a luna2 in the hope that I
could use the 1 zlink port from the luna and one pair of adat
connections to do the same job as all four adats were doing and free
up a pair of adats to use in spdif mode with a new dat recorder I
purchased at the same time ( it only has fibre spdif and no coax
spdif). I found out that its impossible to use half the adat fibre
ports as adat and the other half as spdif which meant I could not
connect all available ins and outs on the a16 at the same time.

Im now thinking of selling the pulsar and keeping the luna with the
addition of a adat / zlink expansion board.

My question is , does anyone know if its possible to use both zlink
ports , one on the card itself, and the other on the expansion board
while also using the adat connectors as fibre spdif.

The other question is , if I keep both the luna and the pulsar and
get the adat/ zlink expansion , is it possible to use one set of adat
fibre ports as spdif , and the other as adat while using both zlink
ports ( one on the luna , the other on the expansion board)

Thanks in advance!

it's no big deal to convert an electrical s/pdif to optical.
You just need 5V, the TOS-link transmitter and a resistor - and (possibly) for decoupling in noisy sourroundings (like the PC case) 2 caps and a small coil.
A readymade box should be available for 20 bucks - don't be fooled (as hifi stores like to put some magic light on that stuff), there's NO active electronic involved.

cheers, Tom
