VOCODER PRO 44 bands !

Here they are, three Vocoders patches and their "finely tuned" presets:
- VocoderPRO33ST 33 bands STEREO (66 filters!)
- VocoderPRO44MN 44 bands (+ smart emulation of 55 bands)
- VocoderPRO22MN 22 bands (just for 3 DSP card owners)
[26/08: new patches & presets v 1.3]
You'll have:
- amazing clean sound and high intelligibility of speech in a wide range of frequencies
- perfectly balanced presets for optimal sound and performances
- different presets for "voice" and "hi-fi"
- mixing of synthesized consonants and natural ones
- emulation of minor vocoders (i.e. VocoderPRO44 emulates 33, 22 and 11 bands with just one click)
- I also added to VocoderPRO33ST presets to emulate STEREO image from a MONO source
- Pre-emphasis equalizer, voice compressor, output delay
NOTE1: I prefer to connect a good synth of the Scope collection (or a physical one) instead of building a limited internal one
NOTE2: at the moment routing matrix can be done only by moving cables

Thank you ROzzer very much for your feedback and nice comments !
It was a really hard and pernickety job to tune the presets for the maximum quality and adhesion to source formant voice (with help of "scientific" methods).
Starting from they it's easy now to change settings to experience the craziest sounds.
I'll probably add new presets soon (+my craziest ones...). I'm also trying to build another version 44 bands stereo with a slightly different philosophy and purposes.
I'm thinking to send "secret" links only to those people who at least returned a feedback ! Like you.

Can you tell me, the 'hi-fi' presets are optimised for what?
Also, what kind of synth sound is it best to use as a carrier, to obtain a classic deep vocoded voice sound (think Planet Rock, or any early 80s electro )? I've tried it with lots of pads and bass sounds from my Access Virus, and whilst the results are very nice, I've not found that classic sound yet.
More presets would be lovely, if you have the time

"VOICE" are presets tuned optimizing all filters in the voice range of frequencies,
"HIFI" ones enlarge filters F and Q to embrace a wider range.
They are for modelling carrier sound with another formant sound (not voice).
I.e.:
carrier sound: synth, noise
formant sound: violin, snare drum, another synth
The combinations are endless
-------- CARRIER SOUNDs --------
The ideal carrier is a sound very-VERY rich of harmonics. Give Vocoder as much as possibile "material to shape".
I.e. if you try to put in White Noise as a carrier you'll hear perfectly the voice.
Knowing that it's an issue I've put a SOUND IN Parametric Equalizer in the upper left side of VocoderPRO patch:
Just double click on "PEQ4S" and put one or two nodes to increase mid-high frequencies, above nearly 1-2KHz with a slow curve, till around 10KHz or above.
Alternatively look for a carrier sound very aggressive. Even a square or saw wave are simple but rich.
TIPS:
- You'll get a better 80's sound playing the key note reinforced with octave above.
- Play notes 1 or 2 octaves below than the ones you are singing.
- Try also to add the 5th dominant, or if you want a wide exiting sound ADD a chord 2/3 octave up in the same key of the two basses.

I've just published NEW PRESETS that include pre-emphasis filters for carrier signal.
(see links on first message of this forum)
This will emphasize mid-high frequencies and make easier to use carrier sounds not originally built for vocodizing.
All presets have an already set "medium" pre-emphasis, but in the PEQ I added 5 presets from FLAT to very high to easyly ajust it for best results.
Who previously downloaded v 1.2 .dev files, have only to upgrade all preset files.

The reason it very simple:
I haven't a 33x33 matrix for VocoderPRO33 or a 44x44 matrix for VocoderPRO44.
I am now building a 55 bands version... and I haven't a 55x55 matrix for it.
Using i.e. 5x 11x11 matrix (supplied with ModIII) is not the same.
So I decided to manually change routing matrix moving cables... (unfortunately not stored in the presets).
I'll be very happy if you or someone else will solve this issue!

yes, changing cables is a mess for presets...
anyway, everything could be achieved changing the frequencies, it's hard, but gets stored. Putting then a common MIII matrix between each couple can be a fair compromise, as it can bring the benefit of some randomizing and reduce the hassle of freq. change, keeping everything in presets.

Yes, this is a solution to get routings stored into presets.
A different care (without matrix) must be taken in case analyze and synth filters aren't set in same way: bandpass, hi/lo shelving or with different Q.
Who knows if someone with Development Kit can develope a 55x55 matrix... it shouldn't be so hard to do (owning a big display )
Unfortunately I got only 6 DSP so I can't get it.
