hi,
no problem, there is a recovery-function on the xp-cd.
(works in most cases)
bootup from cd and start the windows-installation.
after a few steps, you will be asked for the installion-partition.
choose your current windows-partition and select "repair".
thats all
seems like there is somthing odd in your system!
have you scanned for viruses?
two useful tools:
adaware : http://www.lavasoft.de
antivir : http://www.free-av.com

best,
andre

i forgott:
before starting recovery:
set all bios-settings to default..
an active ht-support should´nt lead to problems by the way...
try it with!
(disable unused devices for shure)

Hi all
I disabled HT as it produces a second 'virtual' processor (I noticed it in Device Manager) and in the SFP manual (Support) it say 'dual processors give PCI Overload' which WAS my prblem - but disabling USB fixed all that. (XP Home ASROCK P4VT8 VIA)
After fixing that...

Now I get the FREEZE problem.
In Sonar 3.1.1 I can run a midi / audio loop, and edit, OK; but in Acid Pro 4, using midi (which it does smoothly, in loops, unlike Sonar) all is fine then it freezes... it only freezes with SFP 4 running a project (different ones, not same). The default mini SFP doesn't affect other uses on the computer.
Have reinstalled SFP several times! And Sonar etc etc.

Does anyone use Acid 4? It might be a problem with its midi implementation.
Thanks all, and goodnight (late Sunday here in UK)

scope runs perfect even with HT here!
depends on mainboard for shure..
thats why we are using the p4 p800 SE (again: no deluxe)
sx benefits from HT...

i´m using nuendo and wavelab only...
(i have logic running for testing)

I tried the Registry Mechanic free evaluation version. http://www.winguides.com/ 'Registry Mechanic is an advanced registry cleaner for Windows that can safely clean and repair problems with your registry in a few simple mouse clicks! Easily fix problems with the Windows registry that are a common cause of crashes and error messages.' If you have nothing wrong in the registry you can look elsewhere for the source of SCOPE problems.

I have an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe board running a 3.2 CPU with HT on. The SCOPE board is the only PCI board. A few re-installations of SCOPE 4.0 on top of itself seems to have sorted out any freezing problems I was having.

It's too bad that these smart computers can't just tell you where they are having a problem. The PC Wizard was a good tip from someone on this thread, for a diagnostic tool to see whats going on inside the computer. http://www.cpuid.com/pcw

Freezing with Acid 4 would indicate a Wave module problem in the SCOPE project. Try deleting it and put a new one in.

I am now reading the specs of my motherboard which, by the way, is a P4C800-e Deluxe (sorry for the misnaming of my MB all along, Andre)

It says in the manual to use only +0.8V or +1.5V AGP cards. The Matrox G550 Millenium is a 2x 3.3v AGP or 4x 1.5v AGP.

I have no idea how to configure this.

Edit: Since my MOBO is not a P4P800, does the PCI slot(1 an 5) thing still apply?
I think there is something that got unplugged inside my MOBO because I just cannot boot. I know one of the plugs gets loose quite easily and I checked it. Still can't get Windows to boot though.

The fan all work. I checked all the wires and plugs and it looks like the computer just doesn't see the drive Windows is on.

Does the PCI slots 1 and 5 still apply since my MOBO is not a P4P800?

I just came back from my tech's.

He gave me back my box and told me there was nothing wrong...(Why in God's name does that happen?)

Ok, back to testing vodeo with and without MIDI

SO far so good on the veideo watching without MIDI inputs plugged in.

By the way 24Bit wave source gives no sound using any of Winamp or WMP. Had to switch back to ordinary wave source

On my old Win2K machine I could only use my MIDI keyboard only if it was set NOT to send MIDI clock messages. Once I enabled MIDI clock messages I would experience the same problem as you are describing. Check if your MIDI keyboard is sending MIDI clock messages!

Paul, I've got the same mboard as you with a Scope card in slot 1 and a SRB in slot 5. I have an ancient Matrox G400 dual video card,
3 IDE HDs, a PCI SCSI card and a USB2 DVD drive. Everything works great (ACPI, no HT). (What a jumble of acronyms in that sentence).
I'll be happy to help you get your setup sorted - it will work.

Thanks, Dave

Here's my complete setup:

Asus P4C800-e Deluxe
Pentium 4 @2.8G, i875 chipset
Kingston DDR Ram, 2 512Mg sticks
Hard discs:
Seagate ST380013AS
Matrox 4K060H3(used only for data such as samples)
Matrox G550 Millenium graphics card
2 Pulsar 2 cards in PCI slots 1 and 2(now)
LG CD-ROM
LG CD Burner

It seems everything works perfectly when MIDI is not plugged in.(an hour and a half through a 2-hour movie and no freezes so far)

If you monitor raw MIDI messages with the MIDI monitor do you see any messages at regular intervals?

Also, can you set the latency of MIDI messages with your keyboard? For example I also use a Peavey 1600 MIDI controller that alows me to set delays between MIDI messages and even between MIDI bytes.

Also, did you get the latest drivers for your board?

Bingo, I only used to see active sensing messages. I filtered those out with the MIDI filter in my SFP project.
