I guess it's a tech demo for a new ATI video card. It's amazingly well done.

Imagine actually building such a thing. Would be fun!

I just bought me an ATI Radeon 7000, for my second monitor.
I'm in the right train

Edit: everytime the clip is at about 4/5 th of it's length, I.E. crashes.
Pity, coz I wanted to try viewing Quicktime at a bigger view setting after dl would had finished.
(QuickTime is mac's video viewer).

Hm, didn't crash me. Perhaps right-click on the link and "save as" a file to disk. Then start it playing when it's finished downloading?

Yep. If I try to open the file directly, my Windows Media Player crashes instantly.

The trick is to download it localy before playing it. Anyway, with a 33MB file, it's probably the best option.

John i'm impressed by the work of this people. more than 1000 thousand i suppose.(i don't know the soft wich is generating that)
The hardest thing was to animate the balls,i imagine that program the path (succession of movements points ) was a hard part of that work.When the observer moves it is a simple thing to record a kind of regular circular curve.But balls and music are incredibly synchronize with the differents objects and volumes that are vibrating.Waouuuu it is an incredible virtual orchestration that you show.With my soft pdms i can put 8 different cameras and program differrent paths and views.But for the moment i just know to make move the observer who is looking static objects.the objects can be animated but it is another level that i will integrate one day(a time question).Immanuel gives me the idea to modelize a pulsar synth a gif wont be a problem (i import by ftp on an windows station).But on the silicons graphics where i work the function wich is exporting the video path animation has been limited by the admins.One day i'll be proud to put an mpeg with some pulsar stuffs in cosmic vibrations...yeeepa

This reminds me a lot of the Blue Man Group. Check out http://www.blueman.com

The BMG has been selling out a certain theater here in Chicago for the past 10 years or more. They have shows running in a few other major cities. If you ever have the opportunity to see them perform, I highly recommend the show. Their CD is great too but it's the performance that is really cool.

There has got to be a virgo behind this. They are (supposed to be) notorious for their affection for details and for cleanlyness (as opposed to messyness). All balls go into containers, so that they don't lie around making a huge ... mess.

I remember this guy from Techtv. They have a show called "Eye Candy". I don't know if it's still on because I no longer have the Dish Network. Eye Candy features home made animations. They welcome anyone to send one in. I emailed animusic once and encouraged him to listen to more electronic and he asked me for a list. What he was doing before was rock. This music still sounds really bland to me though. Anyway the guy in animusic invented his own software which uses midi to trigger motion in the 3D models. I wish I could buy software that does this. It's really difficult to get engineers to think outside the box. We have music programs and 3D graphics programs but getting them to make a program that does both well aint gonna happen soon I am sorry to say so you would have to make your own like animusic did. To me music and animation just go together.

You can buy animusic DVDs and see some nice jpegs of other imaginary robot instruments at http://www.animusic.com.

The time is certainly ripe for a product like that.

Braincell have you ever tried the cheap and cheerful "AC3D" software? It has a scripting interface which can be triggered even remotely over a network. For someone who has some free time on their hands and a bit of scripting background, a MIDI interface could be written fairly easily.

P.S. EVERYTHING SHOULD BE MIDI-CONTROLLABLE. The first outboard compressor I see that has MIDI control will be on my credit card right away. Don't care if it sounds like crap!!!

Thanks man - it's a bit grainier than what I remember originally but that's the movie. Haven't seen it in a long time. Thought it was pretty cool. Thanks.

I have watch this ten times+ today and still be fascinated. Excellent.
