Cool. I always knew SCOPE was versatile. But sun cream! Wow!

Annecyops, I believe you're on a Mac, no? Afraid I can't help there. The "My Page / Downloads" page at CreamWare is the only download site as far as I know.

But as to the question about samples: the STS-5000 download only comes with 1 drum loop. The Pulsar cards themselves do come with a pinkish reddish samples CD. Do you have that one?

If not, there should be plenty of Akai and WAV samples on the web.

Hope this helps a little bit. Any STS 5K Mac users out there?

When you go to your 'my page' and 'generate' the packages, there are several formats to choose from (one of them being for MacOS9). If you have problems with that then there are also instructions on how to ftp into your download area. THe packages of course will not be present until u 'generate' them.

Hmm, when I was trying to download it (the billions of times) I never saw any questions asking me what format or OS I want to get it as or what ever, and I just don't really get this ftp site. I feel really bummed that us mac users are supposed to have a hard time at this, when I spent a pretty ok amount of $$ to get it. And I still don't have what I paid for...

Just had a look and seems that it's changed slightly - just one oxe file, no formats. Hmmm... Try mailing Ralf at rb@creamware.de as this may need to addressed for all us Mac users. One thing to note is that the downloads quite often have a stupid extension, e.g. "STS5000.oxe_v3", so rename it just ".oxe" then launch it.

Thanx Mr. A. The .oxo thing didn't work. Man it's frustrating as hell. I just went to Kinkos copy and just tried to download it on a pc, burn it to cd then hook it up in my mac, but no luck. Man this is really starting to get out of this world. I wonder how the hell all the other mac users got their sts-5000, or other software at that???!!!!

.oxe

from the cwa website:
Mac notes:
Please make sure that you have a software version of SFP or Noah installed that meets the system requirements of the device you whish to install. Save the download file with the ending *.oxe to your local drive.

Close the SFP or Noah software.
Check if in the folder ..SFPApp or ..NoahApp there is a subfolder named "Oxe". If not, create this folder (..SFPAppOxe or ..NoahAppOxe).
Copy the downloaded *.oxe-file to this folder (..AppOxe).
Start the SFP or Noah software. The *.oxe-file will now be installed (follow the instructions).
Usually you have to close and restart SFP before you can use the new device. With Noah, you have to install the new plug-in with the Synchronizer (see the manual or the readme file for details) and then turn the Noah hardware off and back on. If you see a "Device not registered ..." message when you load the new plug-in please just turn Noah off and on again.

afaik, the sts5000 is ALREADY on your computer as part of the 4.0(or 3.1c) install(you can reinstall as scope pro if you need to and manually enter the key). the oxe only is nessessary to install the key.

Perhaps you might try Bisto instead

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Gary, i don't think the problem is the installation it's that the download section on My Page seems to only contain the PC version. Where's the Mac download? You used to see three(?) options for downloading after 'generating', now there's only one (and i assume that one is PC only).

Yeah, definately looks like it's the pc version only. I got it anyway, because I just went on "my page" and got the aktivation keys, then just reinstalled the SFP v4.0 software, then loaded in the keys and the STS-5000 was there. Whew! They really didn't make this one easy at all. Besides that, the STS-5000 as well as the 4000 & 3000 import .WAV & AIFF among others, yeah?? That's what I read, but it can't seem to read my .WAV or AIF files. I don't have any Soundfont files (??) at all. So can a fellow Mac user with the sampler tell me how you import these file formats please????

i usually open the SCOPE File Browser and just drag the wavs (or aiffs) into the Sample Zones. That's it.

Yeah, I just tried to drag n drop some .wav and aif files from the SCOPE file browser into the STS-5000, but they wouldn't load up, and I even tried to drag n drop them straight from the desk top, but that wasn't happenning either. What do you think?? I mean if all the other Mac users of the STS-5000 can do it, then shit, so can I!!

Man, I tell you, I just wish it was only that easy. I've been fighting with this bloody thing since I got it. Not easy indeed!! Make a program, add a keygroup, then just drag n drop. Even the scope file browser doesn't recognize any of my samples (which are loads of .wavs and aiffs), let alone the sts-5000 presets. So I'm wondering how I'm even suppose to drag n drop some samples (,wav/aiff) that the whole program doesn't even recognize?? I even tried to load them from cd! and the sampler & file browser still didn't recognize them! I don't know, I haven't felt this dumb on a sampler since I first got introduced to one. My Halion reads .wavs/aiff, so does Reason's NNXT, and so does NI Battery!!! So What's wrong with the STS-5000 that cost loads more than all of them!!!?????

With the SCOPE File Browser make sure that it isn't set to filter samples, Programs etc. (you can filter almost anything with that feature).

Okay, I'll try that Mr. A. Thanks for the patience.

the sampler sts5000 should be part of the 4.0 download as noted. there should be an optional plugin folder that contain all"optional plugins"

I read somewhere on this forum that MAC users must download the file using OS 9.x instead of OSX otherwise the download is deemed useless.

You mean that I should download v4.0 in OS9?? It's weird, the SCOPE file browser only reads certain things and not all the samples (.wav/aiff) samples that I have. You know what, I'm thinking what if I take some samples and move them over to the SFP samples folder! Okay, let's see...

Ahha!!!!!! I got this!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!! Mr. A thanks big time for the info. The thing was also that my file browser was all slimmed up so you could only see the view option, so was like, What are you talking about??!!!! But I just extended it and the filter was there!! Stupid asss!!! Anyway, so the file browser couldn't also read any of my samples that were in subfolders as well, so I had to take them out of the big folders and just have them in their normal folders in my sample drive. That's something else. Okay, I might just have to get back to you when I get the Modlll!!!! Or hope not...
Thanx again crew!! And Mr. A!
