Crackles with Masterverb (Classic)
Hi,
I bought a second hand Pulsar 1 for my second recording-pc and got some problems with crackles. I use a 1632 mixer with two masterverb classic as aux-effects 1 and 2.
I notice glitches and crackles from the mixer 1632, wave1 source works fine with cd.
The first masterverb is loosing the connections in the routing window every time I started the pc and I got spontaneous crackles on Aux1. When I removed the masterverbs and put it as insert effect in the aux effectway - all is working perfect.
Is this a known problem? Whats about the quality of masterverb and masterverb classic?
Thanks and bye
Christian

Masterverbs are very good and not heavy on dsp...but...
The real problems you can encounter with reverbs are computer problems.
Some motherboards are not really great in pci bus performance, the best ones can be found in the tips and tricks section of this planet
Reverb is something similar to thousands of delay lines, so particularly affecting pci performance. Therefore things like IRQ sharing, old Via chipsets etc. are things to avoid...
I didn't encounter the routing problem you have, I don't use 1632..seems strange, maybe it's a bug...strange though.
If you post all your system specs, could be easier to get useful indications, as many people here can run 6-7 Masterverbs with no glitches...

Hi,
ASUS CUSL2-C with 512 MB, PIII 1000MHz, Matrox G450, XP Home tweaked, latest drivers. The DSP-load is with two Mastererbs about 60-70 percent - not too much.
With Masterverbs as insert in Aux 1+2 I can use 13ms Latency at 41KHz, without Masterverbs 96KHz and 2ms is possible. I dont believe in a system-fault, seems to be a bug in 1632.
Thanks and bye

ASUS CUSL2-C doesn't have the PCI problems that some boards have (mostly older VIA/SiS boards to be honest) *however* are you installed in ACPI or Standard mode? Probably you've read all the material on it and are in standard mode, but I ask just to make sure because your motherboard is too old to properly support APIC 2.0 and hence benefit from ACPI under WinXP. Make sure its standard mode (right click on My Computer, choose "Manage", go to the "Device Manager" entry on left and then expand the "Computer" field on the right.)

That's just a graphical issue I think - happens with me too with the Masterverb series. If you open up the live bar and check the routing entries for the reverb, you'll probably find that it is still connected.fortner wrote:

(If you open up the reverb's control surface and play some music, you'll see a signal present).
This is a little annoying though - I generally use it as an insert on the aux page now.
I don't get crackles either way, but it does seem strange that it makes a difference how it's routed! Is this a known problem?

I'm a firm believer of this since I've ran in to this kind of problem several times. On 2004-07-05 05:21, Stige wrote:

After a while my project files are getting corrupted, without me changing any things except muting/unmuting channels in the ST1632 mixer and enabling/disabling the OptiMaster.
Suddenly without a reason I will get glitches and crackles, and if I then completely remake the project it'll work fine for a couple of days.

Sorry my mistake, I was sure I was reading CUV4X for some reason since I've had this board (the first one I mounted my Luna2 on)!On 2004-07-06 02:59, at0m|c wrote:
CUSL2 is based on the 815E chipset. Afaik it was most used with Pulsar on p3's, as the BX440 was on p2's. These chipsets outperformed the others back then...
