Hi everyone
I want to hear some opinions of what Pulsar
users think about DUAL XEON Processors in use
for a music PC. Is it worth it ?
There was a very interesting review in the
Sound on Sound Magazin for the ready
Music Pc System with dual Xeon processors ready
configured offered from the company "red submarine" and " Millenium music" .

If anyone has tried DUAL XEONS with a scope card should tell us . ( Hyperthreading isssues etc )

Thanks

Dual Xeons board with HT (4 virtual CPUs), Windows 2003 Server, Pulsar 2 + Scope SRB (Booster). No issues encountered so far.

I've been running dual Xeons stable with SFP since 3.1x (not sure if it was a or c). There were problems when it was initially ported to Win2k drivers (2.04x) and they continued into 3.0x but things were fixed soon after as everyone's focus turned to WinXP and 2k.

Incidentally I used to use Nuendo (before SX was a product) with the Pulsar and it never stopped having problems with dual cpu's and SFP.exe IF I use vsti's. Vst fx and midi don't seem to cause cpu loading issues. I did some research back then and apparently the vsti code was 'tacked on' in 1.5 and unlike vst's and midi does not get properly distributed across cpu's when SMP mode is enabled. Even with SMP mode disabled I would get bsod's or crashed every hour or so. I've been using Logic 5.x ever since (haven't tried upgrading to nuendo2 or cubase sx2). Just a word of caution, especially since many wouldn't consider Logic a viable app on PC anymore. I haven't tried SONAR.
