Hi all! I'm getting some Clicks and pops in my audio using SFP - Cubase SX - Giga. I basically load up a lite GOS instr. and sequence, and basically I've run out of voices already + it clicks amd pops - any Ideas?

System: P4 1.8ghz - P4T-E mobo - 512MB ram - seagate 7200rpm drives - win XP qith the audio tweaks

thanks

Well the first step I would take to remedy the situation is one of two choices.

- Upgrade your CPU.

or

- Install another 512m of ram.

Then go from there, sorry not helpfull but those are usually the culprits I find.

Cheers!

Which mode is XP in - Standard PC or ACPI.
What happens when using just Cubase & Scope ?
I'd advise getting more memory - double it at least.
What graphics card have you got ?
In BIOS what is PCI latency set to - try 32, and a large AGP aperture - 128 MB or high..er

Set the priority of Msg32.exe to high *each time* you load samples in Giga and you are ready to play with SX. Otherwise, Giga automatically turns Msg32.exe back to RealTime and this creates problems..
Oh, and try to set SFP to BelowNormal priority.

I thought it might be the CPU and Memory, but I was hoping it wasn't. I actually thought the RDRAM might be a bit superior to DRAM, so basically working more effectively.

My system is in Standard PC mode, with many services turmed off with all the other tweaks also performed. I will try the suggestions and see if they make a difference.

Thanks everyone.

I have 2GB of RDRAM.

Another thing that you might not know.. Giga uses only half of the installed memory! And in many systems a lot less!!

With 2GB, I can load 1100MB of samples

It looks like I'll have to invest in new hardware.

Rodos, your advice did help a bit- thanks.
but, it does seem like the hardware is the main issue.

off topic, GS3 or Halion 3?

thanks everyone.
