Almost all samples are from Sampletank2. The farty saw wave bass is from hummel.
It's what alot of Japanese pop sounds like.. a cross between hiphop beats and pop style sounds.. kinda like britney in a sense.

I´m very interested in the final result. So far I don´t think the sound is specifically japanese. With vocals and a good looking singer/performer, this could be an international chart thing. It´s definately not my kind of music, but it has a nice groove, cathy licks and chords, and impressive room dimensions.

Interesting tune,
Nice sounds and has a good groove going on, it is like a cross between how rnb does there stepish style hats and a commercial pop sound as you said, I like it.
Curious though, is that six string playing the nylon or samples? Been thinking of pivking up six string but have not heard enough stuff with it to base a judment on it yet
Cheers!

Basic pitch, the nylons are from sampletank. I have sixstrings, but probably won't use it for arpeggio style stuff, becuase it's becomes too heavy to have that much polyphony. I usually use sixstrings for solo-ish stuff. Either that, or I'd have to plan a production with six-string in mind, else I run out of DSP really quick.
I'll be working on another tune that's more pure rnb so perhaps some of you may like it better. Ideally, I'm planning to do a pop tune, rnb tune, and maybe a slow chill out/adult tune package. And then maybe a trance remix and house remix after that.

I double that. The song is great and the vocals (soft female voice) will add life to it, I'm sure. I would record the vocals with a little delay like those black rnb singers do (I don't know how it is executed but sounds a bit delayed while it isn't! You know what I mean, don't you?)On 2004-05-27 21:34, blgrace wrote:
The overall feel is a bit too precise without vocals or something to loosen it up a bit.
I also 'hear' a trumpet part before the last chorus.
Yeah, the song sounds very light (as opposite to heavy) and it's good

BTW
My Polish/japanese translator gave me a Japanese single CD. The song on the CD isn't even 50% good like yours!!! I have to see the name of the performer to bring it here

Keep my fingers crossed

Thanks Ken,
I like the tune, for me the hats are what gives it that pop sound, sort of destiny child style
I bet a good vocalist would really warm it up, but the track has alot of effects running so, im not sure how you could get the vox in there to sound warm, upfront and balanced.
The idea of the delay but not a delay made me think of using a reflection instead of a delay, place that dead center and then widen the stereo image in the middle to let the vocal sit, but that could be a whacky idea all in its self heh.
Cheers!

eh, Kiroro.. don't see much of them anymore.. a lot of girls used to like them, but it seems they ended their career with only 2 hit singles. Which is pretty good considering most "artists" who leave the scene with only 1 single release.
Spirit, I was wondering what the "incidental" bit on your interpretation meant.
