Hi.
I've just bought VDAT and im tryng to sync the VCR-S to the transport buttons of sonar (to start and stop VDAT when i push play/Stop on sonar).
I've try to assign midi CC with the key binding in sonar but i can assign only midi notes, non control changes!
How i can make work that stuff?
Regards.

It's supposed to be the contrary, Sonar should slave to vdat... That's the whole point of the vdat quality.

You'll still have sample accurate clock into sonar using asio2 clk (the asio2 dest clk input should connect to the VRC-S or VRC-128 clk out).

You can use a midi controller to send a start/stop/rwd/fwd signal to vdat though.

Almost... The thing is you can't use the play/stop button of sonar... You have to use something else, like a midi controler, or maybe a 'studioware' thing? (isn't the way sonar call their midi environment?)

Sonar really have to start be the mean of vdat clock, or else, it won't be synchronized...

But, be assured or re-assured the synchro of vdat is at least twice the precision of nuendo/cubase/sonar/logic

Anyway, continue to work your way with it, it's worth it just for the sake of the audio quality  You'll probably find the way to use it that fits your needs.

I've sync VDAT with the ASIO2 drivers, but the word "sync" is too much for sonar and vdat!
Sonar starts when i press play or rec on the vcr128 but if i have synths, drums or whatsoever in SFP all that instruments are out of sync,or,better, are not in perfect sync.
I can hear that especially when i have some drums maded with VST or samples in sonar and,for example,a kick drum in SFP (with Kick Me or EDS).
The kicks of kick me are out of sync!!!
It's that all the powerfull of VDAT?It's another creamwhore's bad joke?
Works only with cubase or what?
If somebody can reply to my dilemmas...please,reply!

seriously, there's no sarcasm or offence intended, but you might find some valuable info under the topic 'Sonar with Adat' somewhere.

VDat is a closely related to a sequencer as a physical Adat recorder. It is a virtual tape and can do all the Adat remote tricks, but not much else (afaik).
Depending on personal preferences it could be usable, but your description reads as if you're expecting a deeper integration into Sonar, which it obviously lacks.

I admit that even though the info in CWA's doc is perfectly correct, it can be somewhat misleading.
In my case it was the other way round - I always looked for a tape-like device to capture 'live' tracks (and even watched out for a cheapo Adat) but just didn't realize that VDat would be perfect on the job

sorry for no better news, Tom

Hmm i think the same Astroman...
Me too im searching for a device to record native in 32bit with scope (and leaving the streams from sonar in 16 Bit) but seems that a simple devices like that it's a mountain to high for creamwhore's genius....
There's are news about a new release of VDAT...somebody knows something?

Sorry kwild, but vdat is working perfectly... It is a problem of sync with Sonar.

VDAT is MORE tight than logic, more tight than cubase (not hard).

The VDAT is probably the most solid plugin from creamware.

The sound quality of vdat is also incomparable.

Work out the options in sonar, make some trial error testing, or call cakewalk and tell then they make shit
