Hey all.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong spot for this, but I'm not very tech music savvy.

I have a question for someone who knows for sure.

What exactly are you doing when you bounce (or ping pong, whatever you call it) audio tracks?

Thanks!

This has been discussed many times. Most recently here:

Do a search for more references.

Thanks

Okay, I'm searching, but I'm actually just a student trying to study for a test and I just need to know what bouncing is. You guys all seem really tech savvy (like I said before), and I was hoping you could help!

Thanks again, I'll keep looking.

bouncing is a term that comes from the old days of tape.basically it means to combine 2 or more tracks into one new track.

No superman tights, just a cape, right?

This is also referred to as ping ponging, correct? My friend and I have searched all over our book and notes and finally came to ask you good people and were lucky enough that you knew!

I just wanted to make sure I'm totally clear!

also bouncing is when you can create a new audiofile from the original audio- (or even midi to audio) track PLUS ALL EFFECTS.
It's done for computer-performance reasons (CPU dischargement) as well for reasons of surveyability
Bouncing is sexy, it disstresses the comp as well as yourself
