Having problems recording through the SPDIF connection on new Luna 2 card into tripleDAT.

Cable fine - I can record direct to tripleBoard no problem. Checked adapter cable and appears to be OK (actually tried 2 different adapters).

Sample rates seem fine throughout. Luna set to Slave mode.

All I get is crackling which seems to follow the audio to some degree. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

So just to clarify:

tripleDAT is master in this case, Luna is slave.

RCA-style SPDIF cable connecting the two

Adapter on Luna2 is a Stereo 1/8" to Left RCA & Right RCA (tip[input] & ring[output]).

SPDIF cable is connected to the "tip" RCA, for input.

tripleDAT is set to 44.1Khz, 16bit, Master.
Luna2 is set to 44.1Khz, Slave -- can you verify this using the Sample Rate settings dialog? You should see the red LED lit on the SPDIF connector (in this dialog box, its a 'virtual' LED.)

Did you make your adapter, or where did you get it?

Oh lad, you are too cool. I love you and want to have your baby

Sorry, I get carried away some times.

Anyway, your suggestion has me wondering. There isn't a specific reference within tripleDAT as a master or slave but there are a number of options/settings I may have missed. Still, since I am able to record direct to the tripleBoard into tripleDAT, wouldn't that seem to indicate that tripleDAT is already set as master?

I will take a closer look and let you know what I find out. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to respond.

Thanks again!

PS: BTW: I already have a 3yo daughter so don't get any funny ideas!

Well, I've exhausted every possible 3DAT/Luna setting there is and still no-go on this SPDIF problem. I'll make one last desperate plea for help before I once again turn to Creamware tech support.

Let me restate the problem:

Running a mic signal through a dbx 386 mic preamp with SPDIF output. Running the SPDIF cable directly input the tripleBoard soundcard and recording audio works just fine.

When I route the SPDIF cable to the Luna input and try recording into 3DAT, all I get is crackling noise which sounds faintly like it's following the audio signal. I have everything set to 44.1KHz and Luna is set to slave mode. I've tried 3DAT set to both slave & master and no difference.

Any suggestions would be very much welcome
