Will Sfp4 be OSx compatable??????
CW, or rather, some kind third party developers, are working on it. if Scope v4 comes out this week, OSX most probably won't be supported yet.
word is, it shouldn't take that long anymore.

I read here that OS X is in a developement stage and Scope 4.0 was given at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, so I would exclude it, but things seem on their way...
Keep in mind that CWA is coming from a very hard reorganization and now we can guess that things are starting to move again with some stability, but I think that we cant expect too much from this release, apart some very nice software packages reorganization for the new customers.
I think that the new energy put in OS X and Linux developement is a great move towards the future and the announcement of the SDK tools for free is the real revolution for the customers.
I can't wait!

PC requirements: 400 MHz or better, 128 MB of memory, Microsoft Windows ME or better
Mac requirements: G3 B/W, 400 MHz, 128 MB of memory, MacOS 9.x
the phrase "windows ME or better" and the lack of "or better" after MacOs 9.x makes it hard to believe it's OsX compatible.
of course this is pure speculations and should be regarded as nothing more than me babbling..

pfffff... today, we got a new G5 dual 1,8 and DP4 at work... boy, does it look great, and smell nice too
unfortunately the 'house mac freak' told me running OSX on my b/w G3 would be a bad idea (no, he doesn't work for mac or a mac shop).
still, hoping for you G4 guys and creamware's market position it will smoke and be out soon.

well, it should be worth the effort (and price) to plug in a G4 upgrade board
A lot of software benefits from the G4 altivec architecture, as you probably know.
The only 'issue' might be the PCI graph card, but I don't think bandwidth trouble will be as hard as on PC, though it's a rather subjective opinion - I don't have any performance figures.
The controller in your Mac doesn't support HDs beyond 130 GB, but the OS does (via FireWire).
To make it short: with a 1 GHZ CPU it's still a great machine, and a good looking one
cheers, Tom

ha, tom!
if only we would live a bit closer to each other
i've been a regular visitor of xlr8yourmac lately. still waiting for this LG dvd:cd drive i ordered some weeks ago from a local dealer.
of course i'd like to have a machine as fast as possible, but as i only seem to use the mac for CW and internet, i'm not so sure to spend the extra € on further upgrades, only to be able to run scope under OSX.
although i must admit, core audio, jack, soundflower,... it all seems very tempting
well, don't be surprised if you find a note from me in your letterbox one of these days to look into these matters
thanks, againandagain.

jack is interesting but not stable now so you don't miss anything in that matter. Numerology! That's the horse!

I don't know if the zif cards (g3 to g4 upgrade cards) work good with CW cards. G4 macs can be upgraded with cards installed directly in the CPU socket while older models in zif or pci ones - I have no idea if it causes any problemsOn 2004-04-15 14:29, astroman wrote:

just plugged a Pulsar into an G4/350 accelerated PM 7600, just to prove it could be done...
mixed results:
it installs flawlessly with software 3.01 (last pre-SFP) and runs.
the SFP 3.1 installer seems to be a piece of sh*t, sorry, but it didn't even see the board.
It's a CWA DIY installer, opposed to the 3.01 version which uses InstallerVise.
Now I understand the Mac probs a little better...
The GUI is exactly the same speed with either onboard graphic or a PCI Rage 128 board.
The PCI bandwidth seems not to be affected by the graph card, one miserable Masterverb
but well, it's a 44MHZ bus with EDO Ram...
On the other hand I have a PCI ATA controller which probably blocks the bus, but that's an almost 'must have' device today.
Neverthelass, as a synth rack such a machine is quite usable - though I admit it's a somewhat absurd configuration

a couple of times a year a friend provides us (in the office) with a good portion of original Belgium potatoes, accompained by the proper Belgium fat to make some world-class frites, delicious
cheers, Tom
