This probably doesnt belong in this section, but I will risk the flame anyway. Does anyone know how to get that Dr. Dre/west coast type sound where the melody is played by some type of sound that is just like one long slur as the melody progresses up and down. Can anyone suggest how to best get that effect and which sounds or pulsar synths might be best at producing it. I hope you guys know what I am talking about. If you listen to any of dre's music or even EZ-E you will know what I am talking about. Thanks.

You can do it with a simple filtered squarewave kinda synth ***with portamento on*** to get the slide. Use a standard minor key, (e.g. for Cm: c,d,d#,e,f,g#,a#) to get the Egyptian feel.

Its been done to death tho.
