Hi all,

I am new to this forum but not new to Creamware cards and DAW usage. I am in the process of getting an external mixer, preferably both as an external controller and also as a good A/D converter. I have been looking into the Yamaha series of digital mixers and right now, I am looking into the 01X. Yes, I know, that will double the function of the ADAT I/Os on my Pulsar II card, but I am still looking into that. My question to you are:

If I use an 01X as an external controller and audio/MIDI I/O for my DAW, can I still access my Pulsar II synths and fx from within cubase? I have never been quite successful with the XTC mode (lots of instability issues under XP) but I guess that it could be one way of doing it. Have anyone any experience of this scenario, 01X and SFP?

BR
Daniel

hi and welcome,

I don't know about 01x, but i do know that its tecnology is based on 01v, wich I have.

what do you mean by accessing your SFP stuff from within cubase, when your not in XTC mode? me i never went into the whole XTC mode. but i don't think there is a problem to do so.

If you use the 01x as the ASIO host, then your SFP will only be accessible via midi and the i/o on the back of the card. This means that should you choose to use the 01x for ASIO host (which you probably will want to) then you will most likely want to connect the Pulsar to the 01x via adat (I do this with my RME which is my ASIO host for Logic and it works great).

Only question I would have is how much will the 01x compete with the pulsar(s) for pci bandwidth...

And also, the O1X doesn't have adat...

Yes you're right actually, it would actually take an MLan adat device.
