Since writing this post the other day...

http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... forum=1&15 [post #11],
the issue of sound quality coming from Cubase's main outputs has been perplexing me more & more. I was wondering if anyone else gets these symptoms, and if anyone had an explanation......
When using Scope ASIO 2 flt 64 drivers, & running Cubase SX2r1.11 in 32 bit mode, outputs 1 & 2 from Cubase are quieter and produce a strange inaudible 'digital noise', visible on the Phase Scope in Wavelab as a diamond-shaped pattern of dots.
All other output channels are loud & clean as a whistle. Routinq Cubase's BUS 1 to different ASIO channels produces the same effect [ie digital noise etc wherever they appear in Scope].
WHY ?
I have taken to using a different output set-up in Cubase which doesn't use BUS 1 at all, and the quality of my mixes is better, but surely I shouldn't have to do this.
Incidentally, I used to notice in SX1, using the same ASIO drivers in SFP would cause extreme digital noise in Cubase's master meters, rendering them useless (on 2 different computers).
If anyone with a similar set-up [sfp 3.1c, SX 2]feels inclined to investigate, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi
I can't say I have noticed the effects you have. But last week my SPDIF on my PulasrII started making a really horrible noise, after months of being fine. I haven't tried to resolve it yet.
What physical outputs are you using?

Well, that is the (default) Master Bus - I would *guess* that has a bearing on this problem.

I believe that you can set-up more than 1x Master Bus ... I don't have Cubase SX2 myself, but if you setup another Master Bus or perhaps make another Bus, e.g. Bus 2 the Master Bus and stop Bus 1 being a Master Bus (can you do this?)...does the problem appear on the (other) Master Bus(es)?

Alternatively...do you have anything different going on with the Master Bus than the other ones? Dithering plugin as a master effect, perhaps?

Doh!!!
Yes, Counterparts you've cracked it....a sneaky little Dithering plugin on my def set-up master outs (and the level turned down !).
Thanks.

To answer your question, Kenf, I tend to monitor via Cntrl Room outs to my SpDif, and record via 24 bit Wave Dest internally to Wavelab.
Sorry about your SpDif...happened to a mate of mine recently, with an older Pulsar 2 card....had to go back to Creamware. Hope this doesn't mean they have built in obsolescence!

That's a known bug.
Both issues solved?
