This is a strange question perhaps but here goes:
I was plugging my Yamaha 01V through my ADAT card into the BigMixer V2 and I was getting a feedback(very high frequency note) in the Bigmixer channel 6. Eventually, my whole system froze.
Now,Windows seems to have destabilised.
Does that feedback have anything to do with my problem?
I'm looking at any possible reason that might have broken my system, so please, if you have a comment, let me know.
Thanks!

The feedback you heard shouldn't effect Windows in any way, but rebooting your system with open files can hurt it. Be sure to run ScanDisk to repair any damaged files, if you need help getting the 01v running with Pulsar, ask as I used to have that mixer, its a good one.

Running System File Checker (sfc.exe) in W98 is also a good idea, it will tell you if anything got busted or changed (overwritten with a bad or older version) in any vital systemfiles (dll's etc.), it has located corrupted files for me that scandisk did not find.

If you find any, sfc will ask for the W98 CD to re-install the corrupted file(s).

You can even configure it to keep an open eye on your Pulsar installation too

Hope U get i fixed

Unfortunately it turned out to be a reformating job...
Subhuman, I'm taking you up on your offer!

I am from the old school and I'm having trouble understanding the signal routing in the Pulsar.

I've tried all kinds of configurations and nothing seems to work

I must say that feedback has got me stumped as I don't have anything(aux, return or monitor) feeding back to the Bigmixer...

Heeeeeeeelllp!

Thanks in advance!

I suggest you start here:
http://planetz.ghostwheel.com/forums/vi ... 73&forum=1

Then feel free to ask me any other questions here. The basic idea is to use the 8 channels of AdAT for AUX & BUS sends & returns into Pulsar.

Hi ya sub!
Got a couple of questions:

1. Can you tell me if the 01V is master by default? (Probably is but I can't find the reference in the manual)

2. In the SCREENSHOT1, ASIO24 dest goes TO Logic and ASIO24 source is the signal coming FROM Logic and is monitored through the BigMixer in the 01V, right?

Thanks.

Paul

I'm not sure about jacob's mixer setup actually, and would suggest you not simply blindly copy it.

ASIO Source comes FROM Logic, and can be monitored by connecting ASIO to a creamware mixer, and routing the output of the creamware mixer to an ADAT destination (which then shows up on the 01v as clean, pure digital audio).

(Alternatively, ASIO Destination is what you're FEEDING Logic with-- to record Pulsar synths, for example -- or anything that comes into the Pulsar environment, for that matter!)

I'm not sure if 01v is master or slave by default. This is easy to check:

1. Be sure your ADAT cables are connected between the 01v and the Pulsar.
2. Press the SETUP button on the 01V until the WORD CLOCK SELECT page is showing.
3. Using the arrow buttons on the 01v (or the dial), navigate to INT 44.1K and press the ENTER button - this makes the 01v Master @ 44.1khz.
4. In Pulsar's sample rate settings, verify your ADAT cables are "on" - the red light should be lit, then set Pulsar to Slave to ADAT. You should get sync.

REMEMBER to keep your audio volume DOWN while adjusting master/slave settings to avoid loud digital noise.

On the 01v, you will probably want to read the Digital Option Card sections of the manual -- I'd setup the OptionI/O to be AUX1,2,3,4 and BUS1,2,3,4 -- then (once you're sure you've got Sync between 01v+Pulsar), simply adjust the Aux send level for a particular part, and it should show up on ADAT Source inside Pulsar -- for effecting or routing to ASIO destionation for recording

(Little hazy here since I have the 03d now instead, I'm assuming they both have the same AUX/BUS structure but can't remember for sure)

Ok! We have signal from the 01V in the BigMixer!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou....

Now my problem is Logic.
I patched the Bigmixer through the ASIO24dest and I get "Pulsar/Scope or EASI modules have not been loaded please do so and restart Logic".
Now what am I doing wrong?
I chose the EASISCOPE driver as that seems to be the only driver that seems to go with Pulsar.
Oh well, at least I'm Part of the way there.

Thanks!

An easy question for you, sub, I`m sure
How do you associate a BigMixer input channel to a recording bus?

I think that will resolve all my problems.

I am able to bypass the BigMixer and record directly in Logic but it would be nice to take advantage of the ressources the Pulsar2 offers.
Thanks!

Paul

P.S.: Wow! Leaps and Bounds today! I love this forum!

I got it! There is a teeny-tiny little window beside the channel volume slider to assign to a specific bus.

Now everything works. It`s up to me now to finally make music!

Thanks to everybody who helped, especially subhuman!

See ya later.
