I have been experiencing strange phenomenon with SFP projects. For example, when I loaded one project, there was one muted channel in STM4896 mixer, even though the peak meter was showing action. In the same project, Masterverb Pro only processed early reflections, but the reverb part was silent. In one project, I had one vinco muted while meters were still moving. If I re-set samplerate and reload the project, it's (probably) working again. This all started to happen since I installed windows XP with APIC/ACPI mode. I've read here somebody else had similar problems? Could you gather your knowledge here, please. I wonder if this is a software bug in SFP or incompatibility with ACPI. I'm a bit worried if SFP sound (quality?) is exposed to the outsider things like how windows is installed. After all aren't the sharcs which process the sound, not windows.
Asus A7N8X Deluxe 1.04 (bios 1004)
Radeon 9600Pro
512MB Kingston
Pulsar II + XTC
Windows XP Pro APIC/ACPI
Parts in SFP projects becomes muted
You should definately file a bug report, and they generally ask for a project. There may be some inconsistancies that they can see on a level below which you generally deal with. Then again it may be systemic and not the project as you suggest.
Personally I've never had this happen. and my experience tells me that ACPI+WinXP Sp1 performs a bit better than 'Standard PC', especially if you're able to use HT. This is *not* the case with Win2000 or older motherboards (needs to support APIC 2.0 or higher for proper functioning).
While filing the bug report, I would probably also check how well my PCI cards & RAM are seated in their slots. USE A GROUNDSTRAP or make sure you're properly grounded before touching the cards & ram please

It can happen in any sized project. It seems not to be related to DSP usage in my case. Deleting the 'faulty' device and reloading it helps always, but that's not an option with bigger projects. At this point all I can accuse, is the ACPI. With standard PC all was fine.On 2004-02-26 10:34, kensuguro wrote:

Your problem may be different, but what's the DSP usage on those faulty projects?

lol, should have paid more attention to the motherboard model #
Actually I've done some thinking about this and I used to have a problem with certain devices not being able to load completely on random project loads, but say 85% of the time the project would load with them fine. After going through CW support it turned out that when I eliminated all older devices from my projects the problems ceased. I had to give up on the s@turn
That's about all I can think of...
