I need a good synclead
I wonder if someone can help me to find a good synclead patch. Here is a example of the synclead sound that I'm looking for:
http://w1.901.telia.com/~u90109693/synclead.mp3
I have a Pulsar2, which I only use as a mixer at the moment. I found some recommendations at the discussionboard at http://www.spacesynth.de that this kind of synclead sound can be made with the Pro53, and therefore I wonder if I should buy the Pro-one plugin to my pulsar-board (as both the Pro53 and the Pro-one emulates the same original synth) or if it is possible to make this kind of sound with the synths that comes with the Pulsar2 board?
I prefer to use a softsynth in the Pulsar-board instead of a VST-synth as I have some unused DSP resources in the soundcard at the moment.
The synclead sound doesn't sound very complicated to do, so I thought it was possible to do with the Uknow007, but I haven't succeed with that (I like Uknow007 as it uses very few DSP resouces).
I'm looking for a sound that has a nice feeling and some deep, and I assume that the synclead sound should be quite easy to make (unfortunally I haven't succeded to make any good sound yet).

Here's some examples.

Also in addition to several banks that come from creamware, Mr Arkadin has been nice enough to create new presets (including all the stock ones) here:

I don't think any of the "stock" Pulsar synths can do hard sync (except the Modular, which is complicated for a newbie), so you'd better get the Pro-One. There's also John Bowen's Orion, which is sort of like the Pro-One but based on standard CreamWare atoms, and there's also Solaris, which contains many different types of synthesis beyond the Prophet emulations.
I actually think the Pro-One was a bit difficult to figure out; you might want to check out John Bowen's Prophet Plus, which will sound the same (based on the same atoms) but has a different interface. http://www.zargmusic.com . I think you can download a demo from his site.
Have fun!

P.S. By the way, who composed that sound clip of yours? I liked it!

Hmm... It is a little bit difficult to hear from the samples if the synth can generate the synclead sound that I'm looking for.
Anyhow, the samples sounds great, and I'm sure that the Pro-one is a good choice.
I only have a Pulsar2, but I assume that the DSP resources will be enough for the Pro-one as I mostly will play monophonic (ie. use it for melodies). The tricky question is how many effects I need to add to get the wanted sound (and also if the DSP resources are enough when the effects are added).

There is a Modular II patch called Sweet Syncer that should be able to produce the sound you're looking for. I just took a quick look at the presets, and while none of them are exactly what you're looking for, a little bit of preset tweaking should do the trick. It's a lot cheaper than buying Prophet Plus.
Then again, Prophet Plus...you can't go wrong with John Bowen's synths.

Hummel's variation of the blue synth also does sync. I can't check out your mp3 sample right now, so I'm just suggesting out of the blue. Hummel's bluesynth variation is free.
Something like this?

The sample is taken from a band called Laserdance (the song is called "Around the planet").
The bands Koto, Proxyon, Rygar, Hipnosis etc makes music in the same genre (the genre
is called Spacesynth or Synthesizer Dance).
You can find more material in this style at the websites http://www.spacesynth.net and http://www.spacesynth.de. This music is influenced by the italodisco style from the 80s, and the musicians that made this music in the 80s has now returned back to this genre (for example you can checkout the new website
http://www.rygar.nl).
I've tried to find some useful patches on my Pulsar2 board for this kind of music, but unfortunally I haven't succeeded.
Btw, Here is a short 'how to make spacesynth' tutorial:
http://www.spacesynth.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14
The only Creamware-stuff that is used in the material on these mp3-clips are the drums that are played with the STS3000. I wish I could use more of the Pulsar2 board for my music (most of the Creamware factory-patches works good for techno music, but are not useful for the kind of music that I'm making).

kensuguro, I can't access your mp3-file. Is the URL correct? I'll try again later.
Staffan2,
I listened to the mp3 example from the link above and it made click:
Wavelength Europa
possibly related to the Jupiter moon featured in 2001
check it here:

cheers, Tom
ps: that stuff seems to be in the C64 tracker tradition, isn't it ?

My "sparC" synth also has a very sophisticated sync/ x-mod architecture that is unique to it alone.
"XMOD" (cross-modulation) can be used to produce complex FM-timbres. The "XMOD" can be sent from either OSC1 to all other oscillators or OSC1 to OSCs 2&3 and OSC4 to OSCs 5&6 (switch below XMOD knob and Sync switch). The "XMOD" and "Sync"-parameters share this two-way switch, allowing the "Sync" to be switched from OSC1 to all other oscillators or OSC1 to OSCs 2&3 and OSC4 to OSCs 5&6. This combination of XMOD and Sync flexibility is what gives the "sparC" its distinctive sound.
You can check it out here:
http://www.track0.com/wavelength/devices.html
The only way you could achieve the complexity of the modulation/ sync capabilities of the "sparC" is if you built a large and cumbersome modular synth -- and even then you would be missing out on the other custom details that this synth's design possesses (not to mention the pile of presets included onboard). No other synth for the platform (or native, that I'm aware of) is capable of this type of oscillator sync flexibility, especially when considering how clearly arranged all the surface parameters are.
(...end of sales pitch... ha ha)
Cheers,
Stephen Hummel

Yes, many of the songs in that genre have also been made with the fasttracker program for the demoscene (Amiga, C64, etc). So, you can find many songs in that style in the mod- and xm-formats.
Great, there is a demo on that page. I will try it out.I listened to the mp3 example from the link above and it made click:

Stephen, I can't access the demo of Wavelength Europa. Is the URL correct? (this is the link I'm trying to access:
http://www.track0.com/wavelength/eurov11demo.zip ).
I assume that they used the Prophet5 in the soundsample above (the song was made in 1990).
I can tell you that the reason that I bought the Pulsar2 was that I though that Uknow007 could make the same fat bass-sound as the Juno106 (almost everyone that makes musik in this genre is using the Juno106), and as I don't have space for a lot of hardware synths
I made the choice to go for a software studio. Here is a picture of my equipments:
http://w1.901.telia.com/~u90109693/studio2004.jpg
(ie. not much, one synth and one computer)
I assume that most of the old analog synths doesn't sound very good without effects (delays, reverb and compressor for example), so I thought it would be much easier to work in a software environment (which it actually is, but the drawback is that I can't find the same sounds as the true analog synths have).
I wish I could get a spacesynth/italodisco sound like this:
http://cybermax.tmfweb.nl/audio1/finalpeek.mp3
(the sample is taken from this page: http://cybermax.tmfweb.nl/ )
Unfortunally, the sample is made with hardware synths ....

did you check out the sample I made? I made it using hummel bluesynth. I can send you the preset if it's close to what you want.

Great! This sounds very good. Exactly like the sound that I'm looking for (probably I will add some stereodelays to the sound to get it as I want).did you check out the sample I made? I made it using hummel bluesynth. I can send you the preset if it's close to what you want.
Of course I'm interested to get the patch that you're using.

Thanks for the support! It is capable of some very unique timbres... I use it more and more, myself. I find that this kind of architecture can allow one to really mess with a conventional-style patch with only a few knob twists... kinda like going from 0-60 in 4 seconds. On 2004-02-22 18:16, scary808 wrote:
