I'm using pulsar with cubse and (now)logic. The problem is that when I'm puting some audio tracks into my songs, the tempo is changing!!! I also noticed the same problem when I'm using the sample player of pulsar : the tempo is changing if the sample player is playing...
Is it because my computer isn't powerfull enough?(I've got a K6 2 350 Mhz, 160 Mo Ram). I will probably change it very soon but I wanna be sure the problem comes from my pc (I want to change it for an AMD Athlon : isit a good choice?).
Thanks for answering me because I really don't know what to do...

LOL! How cute of you to quote yourself!

LOL!

HehHeHE did you try to load a drum loop into a sample player? ehhe did you check if the speed of the loop matches the bpm of your song?

Once again:

Not sure if I can help you, are cubase/logic slowing tempo, are your samples changing tempo, or as Air_pollo suggest, does you samples length fit the selected tempo ?

Anyway, if you decide to go for a new PC, check the FAQ at creamware carefully (http://www.creamware.de/en/Service/FAQ/default.asp, and try to avoid the VIA chipsets on your mobo.

Cheers

Concerning the use of sample player :
I didn't find any solution:
The problem comes from my computer (or from Cubase ) I think: the samples I use are string programs (from akai CD-Roms)and - I think - it's my computer that is slowing tempo (it has never to do with samples length). I don't have this tempo problem when I use a modular synth for example. So maybe I don't have enough Ram memory (because in Pulsar samples are loaded into Ram memory) I was before working with an akai S3000 (and with the same programs I'm using now on Pulsar) and of course I didnt have all these problems . I wonder if it's really possible to make a song project only with a computer....

concerning cubase :
Concerning the tempo changes in Cubase itself a friend explained to me that it was normal : I should according to him always keep the audio option enabled (my computer isn' powerfull enough he said).

But the main problem remains the use of sample player with pulsar (I can' do without it). Are 160 Mo Ram memory not enough?
I hope I was clear enough (my english is far to be perfect...)and that somebody has the answer
Thanks for the previuos answers

For Cubase (or logic) + Pulsar + sample player (or STSx000) you need at least 256m of FAST memory. PC100 give bad performance for sample playing from ram.. Try PC133 CAS2.

But even with PC100 and only  160m, the tempo shouldn't vary a bit...even with sample playing. At worst, you could have clicks & pops.

I have PC100 on my computer... so I should change my computer, but reading Marcus Pocus' message, I still don't understand why the tempo vary... (I must say I always have strange problems with my computer...)
Thanks

did you <a href=http://planetz.ghostwheel.com/phpBB/vie ... 2>optimize your system</a> a little bit yet? try it, it can do wonders.
