I have been running Pulsars 2 for 1,5 years under WinMe without significant problems.
Recently I've had to switch to Windows 2000 because of necessity to use latest Sonar wich doesn't run under pre-XP/2000 windos.
And out of the blue I've experienced problem with CreamWare Pulsar driver which does not want to go in 24-bit.
In System>Device Manager>Sound Video&Game Controllers>Creamvare Pulsar 2>Settings>Preferred Bit rate all options are gray (disabled) but 16 bit one.
Consequently Sonar 3 neither goes in 24 bit under Options>Audio>General>Audio Driver Bit depth sending Error Message of "The default Audio Format is not compatible"
The comments in the manual and on this web site are extremly confused.
Can anybody explain in lay terms what I have to do to enable 24 bit option?
I'd be very grateful, guys!

as on the cw forum, you need do nothing except load a 24bit wave or asio module in sfp BEFORE you start sonar....and use asio for sonar!

the device manager's display means NOTHING.

Just to make clear: It is not only the problem of System Device Manager which can be easily neglected. The SONAR Audio Otions neither accepts 24 bits WITH 24 Wave Sources loaded BEFORE Sonar is started. Error Message says "The default audio format is not compatible with one or more sound cards"
There is no obvious problems with ASIO, but as I've already said I have in mind to use Wave moduules.

The only audio cards on board are two Pulsars - 2 & XTC

A few years back 24-bit WDM drivers weren't supported in Win2K. I remember the release notes from Creamware said as much. Don't know if that's changed, but I also remember reading that Win2K is not as oriented for multimedia as the old DOS-based windows versions and XP are - it's pretty much straight NT with a facelift and updated drivers. You might make sure that 24-bit wave drivers are even supported in Win2K...? Just a thought...

Recently I found this info on ms site:
Kmixer Plays Only the Top 16 Bits of 24-Bit or 32-Bit Audio
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -US;308883
But this is regarding only win2000 with SP1 and SP2.
