I used to use Sonar 1 with Pulsar 1 in Windows Millennium, and it worked just fine. Now I have installed Windows XP, latest version, and Sonar doesn't work anymore.

When I open Sonar, I get a pop-up message saying "You have not selected any Midi inputs". So I select the Creamware (Pulsar) inputs and click OK, but then I get the same pop-up message again, over and over. Likewise for the Midi outputs.

Sonar seems to recognize the existence of the Creamware Midi inputs and outputs, but it cannot tell that I have selected them. Or it finds some other problem with them.

I don't think the problem is with Sonar, because I cannot get any results from MOTU's Freestyle sequencer either. That is, when I play the keyboard, the MIDI data reaches neither the external synth module nor the sequencer. If I generate a test chord within the sequencer, no midi data reaches the module.

My test setup is:
Keyboard MIDI out to Pulsar MIDI in.
Pulsar MIDI out to external hardware synth module MIDI in.

The routing in Pulsar is:
Sequencer Midi Source 1 to Pulsar Midi Destination.
Pulsar Midi Source to Sequencer Midi Destination.

I definitely need to use hardware synths with a software sequencer. So I definitely need Midi i/o.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Sonar and SFP 3.1c. I have tested the MIDI cables, the keyboard, and the synth module.

Any ideas?
