Please help me clear this up

If I install SRB scope, and then make it the mainboard- is that same as taking I/O daughterboard off the pulsarII and putting it on SCOPE?
I don't want to break something...

Hi Mike

I don't think so. You should be able to leave the I/O on the PulsarII and make the SCOPE (SRB) board "Board #1"

The I/O will probably appear as something like:

PulsarII(2)

e.g. when I recently installed the XTC board (no I/O) alongside the existing PulsarII board (w/ i/O), the PII's I/O appeared as: 'PulsarII(2)' i.e. I think that my PulsarII is now the 'second board', but still contains the I/O for the system.

As far as I understand it, it is important for you to set the SRB as the '#1 board (as it has the most DSPs).

"Generally it is recommended that the card with the most DSPs is treated as the first, or 'main' card in a system."

Something to do with spreading those DSP-hugry mixers about...

I have a similar setup, with a Scope SRB and a Pulsar2. I moved all I/O to the Scope card: simply screw the I/O daughterboard over to the other card, don't touch electrostatic sensitive parts ofcourse! The I/O then show up under 'Scope' in Hardware I/O, instead of under 'Pulsar2'. Afaik upon opening of older projects, SFP will display a warning that it cannot find the Pulsar2 I/O, just replace them with the new-called Scope I/O.

In SFP it doesn't matter which card has which keys, as long as they're all in the machine.

Oh and yes, I made the Scope #1 board.

Hmmm,
A question here Atomic- what's the practical difference between just assigning SCOPE srb as no.1 board and physically moving the I/Os?
I am still not too enthusiastic about wielding screwdrivers around my cards...

IMHO since most of the processing is done on the 15 dsp card, I found it logical to also give that one the I/O board, saving on STDM and other virtual wires. Also I thought the 15th dsp (which doesnt show up in dsp meter) is there to manage I/O's, so at least it has some use now.

Probably, but not scientifically prooven

Anyone else?

The reason for the errors about the PulsarII I/O is because when you installed SFP it remembers what I/O plate was present...

just replaing them and save the def project/s and it should not happen again..

Also Atomic is almost 100% about the DSP not showing up as it is used for routing, but it's not the 15th chip like everyone seems to think
