Is there any particular reason why i should have 30ms latency with STS? I run MIDI signal from sequencer to STS and audio output is delayed. If i send MIDI signal to synth there's no delay. ULLI is set to 7ms. Audio goes to monitors directly(no asio in between)

Thx and Merry new year

I'm sure you've encountered the midiportfilter issue to remove the [emulated] ports?

check the dir by the same name in your Sx install dir if not (there is a readme).

Yes, the MIDI ports are listed as emulated in SX, but i don't know anything about that issue, where can i change this settings? Can you tell me brief and simple explanation please.

Thanks for your help

look inside your C:Program FilesSteinbergCubase SXMIDI Port Enabler folder for a file called "ignoreportfilter"

move it up into C:Program FilesSteinbergCubase SX

now you will have both the [emulated] and non-emulated ports. Use the non-emulated ones. If the LONG list gets on your nerves you can disable the emulated ones under device setup.

Thx Valis,
I tried moving the file and non-emulated ports showed up, but they don't work, i tried to enable them in device setup, but no luck...

May all be well

Ok I'm a logic user but I have a mate that uses Sx so I *believe* i'm correct on this next stuff (helped him fix the same problem with his midi ports):

Under DEVICE SETUP the "All MIDI Inputs" section is the best place to actually enable/disable specific ports for in&out.

The "Directmusic" and "Windows MIDI" sections allow you to show what ports are visible. The behaviour of these two sections was a bit odd for me if I remember. I was able to enable/disable stuff in the "All MIDI Inputs" section and hit apply and the other areas reflected the changes, but only inputs on the "Windows MIDI" panel appeared to activate. Not sure how that affects outputs, cubase is laid out rather odd in this respect for me.

Thx for your help Valis. Tried fiddlin' about in device setup, but non-emulated ports don't seem to work, i'll stick to emulated ones. It was my mistake anyway, because i had set delay in fx of the MIDI track and forgot about it- It had nothing to do with STS. Thx again

Non-emulated ports will not only work but give you FAR superior timing (glad you fixed the 30ms issue though).

You might as for help from another SX-user here...I rememember I had to manually disable the emulated ports to get my mate to stop using them (the timing differences were quite noticeable at 176 bpm).

Any ideas from SX(1) users, how to make non emulated MIDI ports work?

Thx

hi,

also on sx here. My non-emulated don't send midi data to the SFP but they do send data to my unitor midi interface.

Ok I dropped one of my cards into my friend's system and the non-emulated ports seem to work fine.

I put vectron on several of the inputs in SFP and played a note from within cubase to it. Now I didn't test timing but I did also record the note through several inputs as well to verify data flow both ways.

Here is how I set up the DeviceSetup pages, please note that this is assuming you are on a PC:

Everything on the "All MIDI Inputs" page was made active (or already was):

-

Now on the next 2 panels the only thing you could change was whether or not the midi port was shown in the dropdown selector.

So all Directsound ports were set to No for the Show column:

and all Windows MIDI ports were set to Yes for the Show column:

Now note that in the last image only CW MIDI outs 1, 2 & 3 are shown active. They are the only ports that have something assigned to them in the test project.

Now I'm really a Logic guy but I have moderate experience in nuendo since the early 1.x days, so if this doesn't help then I suspect that its something else.
