Following a recent HD format and reinstall of Windows XP and all my other software, I have a very strange problem with the STM2448 mixer, which I use in most projects.

I can clearly see signals coming in on the VU meters for the channels, but whatever I do, the master output remains completely silent.
Yes I did check the mute button for the master fader

The only solution seems to be reloading the mixer, but this means I will lose all my mixer and insert fx settings for all my tracks using the STM2448, which is hardly acceptable.

Anyone have an idea how to solve this strange phenomenon? Is this a bug?

Did you have the fader assigned to a MIDI CC#? Try removing the remote assignment.

It happens here once in a while, on different mixers, for example when MIDI input from the mixer is disconnected. The fader jumps to 0 when the controller is removed, and then raising it w the mouse restores the volume.

no midi cc was assigned. And assigning one now and then moving the fader doesn't work either.

I'll try removing and then reinstalling SFP tomorrow and let you know if that solves anything.

Once I had the same problem. Then I clicked on the mono button in the master channel, then once again, back to stereo. Then it worked.
Really very simple, but it helped, and this problem disappeared.
Hoping I could help,

Do you monitor through the STM 2448's MixL/R out?

If not then either do or make sure that "mix" is choosen in the std/ctr, talkback menus.

Clicking the mono button (or any other button for that matter) doesn't help either.
And yes I use only the mix output of the mixer.

Very unlikely, that would show different symptomes like DSP overload message etc.

Yes, you should definitely see a message, though a symptom can complete silence.

Well, reinstalling the whole thing seems to have done the trick

I've noted similar problems with this mixer - in both Win ME and Win XP so it's not related to the OS.

The biggest problems I've noted had to do with the channel EQ section. There is something strange with the EQ section. I've seen that thing actually crash Win XP. Icky stuff. And the bug mixer is still a bug mixer.
