Virsyn Microtera for free

got it from the German magazin's Keys cdrom.
It's for free, you can also download it from the Keys site.
I checked it out for a moment, I think it's another great modern synth.

a friend who gave me the Keys cd told me that, but i can't find it either.
Another thing is there's just a mac version on the cd.

Hubird, there's a utility that also mounts the ISO part of the Key's CD, which are in fact hybrid - almost your nick

Obviously you're seeing only the HFS part.
I'm very impressed with the lack of quality of the Virsyn stuff, with all those promos running in the German mags.
It adds to the sound palette of course and for free it's ok, but I wouldn't expect too much...

alright, thanks, you must be right, before posting I even checked if there was a specific message about the platform and I was surprised there wasn't one.
Now it's clear

I would like to have that utility, I'll check my sources

I'll give the micro virsyn a second try, first impression wasn't that bad hoewever.
But I know you think the Absynth, Virsynth and thelike are a bit thin and metallic compared to the classic analog ones, and probably this is true, like you also say, Chris.
Still they have character and are capable to bite through the mix, like in my last song Identify, so it's also a matter of time and place I guess.

For those of us who buy Computer Music Magazine, it's a normal giveaway, although exclusive to Keys buyers this time.

If the Carbon was what they meant it to be it would be a Great One.
I bought one issue of Keys especially for Carbon but... it was only standalone version. I asked them by e-mail about the VST version but in return I received silence. I asked them a second time with the same result. Keys suck! I don't want to support them anymore. I know Carbon was then released as VSTi (in next issue of Keys) but I prefeared to buy Future Music to get one. Well, Microtera doesn't seem to work here.

Standalone only, output choices are Primary Wave driver, Pulsar/Scope Wave driver, and Creamware play 2(emulated. The latter choice makes the app crash...

Yes, ASIO is on the list (sorry about that)
But choosing it also makes Microtera freeze. Go figure...

I frequently try those demos - I have an Abo of KEYS and buy KEYBOARDS on the newsstand.
Usually they all do work with CW's DirectSound drivers, but ASIO often doesn't work, even if it shows up in the list.
I have 2 Win98 installations, one rather old and cludgy, which almost always fails on ASIO and another clean one where ASIO is usable in 50% of the cases.
I dunno why, but there seems to be something special with ASIO scope that many native programs don't like - whatever it is.
Generally that doesn't matter much (for me), but I always suspect I might miss something in sound quality in case the engine of the tested app supports true 24bit sound.

Every other standalone app I have tried have worked with ASIO SCOPE. Microtera just doesn't respond.

The virsyn works great as VSTi in MacOS 9 perfectly and the OSX version I tried (AU) also. I don't know about those standalone apps. I just don't need them.

I got the standalone version to work with 24-bit ASIO, and the VST version works as well -- with Sonar 3. I'm using XP....

So, I´am testing the VirSyn at the moment near nine o´clock in the morning and I like it, the design reminds me a little to the Waldorf Attack. The sound is a little thin but with a hooked comp like the endorphin maybe it´s okay.
Wow, I reched the monotron presets.
The slot machine is a nice way to create new sounds in a sec.
Good to have both Synths (Carbon and VirSyn)for free.
I´ve just copied the VirSyn dll into my VST folder and it works without any problems.
Win98se and Cubase 5/32 here.
