I hope this topic hasn't been discussed yet, but I can't find it through the search function.
I've recently reinstalled everything on a new OS (Windows XP home edition). I've followed all the tweaks to optimize XP for music purposes.
I'm runnig Logic 5.5.1 and SFP 3.1c.
When I try to tweak a pulsar synth or even move the synth with my mouse I receive an ASIO system overload message in Logic and the sequencer stops playing. This can get quite annoying.
My PC is a Asus P4B 1,8 Ghz with 640Mb sdram with a Pulsar II card.
I also use a matrox g550 with dualhead. I use the primary display for logic and the secondary for SFP.
Does anyone have tips on how to avoid this problem?

must be the asus board (sorry, I´m always going mad about asus).Got my logic running SFP3.1 running fine using Win 98. Never tried XP except for internet and networking things.
Which drivers did you include in your current Project? Better use the standard Asio drivers, not the float ones.
Or are you lauching it in xtc mode?

There are things you can do to the priority level of tasks running under windows to compensate for this, but before you try that have you tried using your matrox in single screen mode (just for comparison's sake?)
Most graphics cards that have 2nd monitor support don't accellerate some or all of the features that the regular 'port' does. They tend to be more just 2nd ramdac channel which means that things like transparency etc are giving you a massive cpu hit.
Give single-window mode a shot for a bit with a heavy project you've been having probs with and see if that helps. You may find yourself using that additional screen realestate for less demanding tasks.
If the problem still persists i'm sure someone can point you at the task priority discussion threads
