I´m on the search for a mew mobo for my two cards (Scope + SRB). However, I´ve done a little research here in the Tech Forum and found this thread where everyone posted his setup whith the number of Masterverbs his motherboard could achieve. There were some astounding results:
VIA KT400 CHIPSET: 13 MVs
INTEL 845 CHIPSIT: 16 MVs
I'm not up to date... but are these the chipsets to go for? I´m a little confused because after doing further research I´ve found some users whith major problems concerning the P4B533-E mobo. Is it the P4B533 whithout the "E" which works flawlessly?
Anyway there are some newer chipsets like the 865, 875 and KT600 which I´m interested in too, but couldn't find any realworld results.
Please can anyone give me a distictive statement on which mobo to go for whith the exact name? Thanks!
Which Mobo can handle the most Tracks and MVs?
if you want a very good setup then go for a motherboard wihch can handle duel xeon processor.

Wow, 20 MV's ? That´s impressive!
As for the Dual Xeon.... I think they use the 75xx chipset which didn´t cut so well.
Yes the 865 is definetely an option for my other RME pc I´m buiding, since I need maximum compatibility to future processors on that machine.
But for the Creamware setup I only need the maximum of tracks and MV´s since no native stuff will be settled on that one, besides Gigastudio.
Back to the 20 MVs.... Were there any special tweaks necessary to achieve that enormous number of MVs? I mean other than the standard tweaks (Grafical stuff, disabling of USB, assignments of IRQ´s, disabling of services under XP) ? How about the ULLI setting and the PCI latency setting in the bios.... Which settings did you use? And which exact mobo do you use? Which revision of that 761 do you have? What are the preferred PCI slots on that mobo? Sorry for asking so many questions, but there are some users who managed to get only 4-5 MVs whith some newer revisions of the 761.

But I do sometimes see them on ebay.
I´ve also had a 761 once and I still use them for internet/office purposes. I´ve always wondered why there were so many varying reports of their performances. But after a while I´ve found out it was the revision of the chipset. And it were always the newer ones which performed less good. In the meantime you can upgrade your A7m266 to a 2600+ processor as long as the processor is the 266 mhz version of the XP proc., And soon the last bios update will be released for that board (1.08). I think I will never forget this number "761" !

I run winME on a Epox 8k7A+ mobo with an Athlon 1500+, 512mb PC2100 Kingston, 2x Pulsar2 and a Scope SRB, dual STDM connections.
Disabled USB, Raid, COM and LPT.
The cards reside in slots 2, 3, and 5.
I set the PCI latency timer to 64 and use no special IRQ settings, the 2 Pulsar2's share an IRQ. ULLI is at "setting 2", 4ms@48kHz.
Sorry, can't say which rev the motherboard is...hope this helps anyway.
I have never seen the dreaded PCI overflow error with this setup.

Yes, your comments were very helpful. It is known that whith Win ME you can achieve more MVs/Timeworks reverbs. I also do have your Epox board (the one whithout the raid) but never used it whith Creamware cards. Well, now I´ll have to decide if I'll utilize one of my Internet/office machines for the Creamware cards again

Maybe the lack of a raid controller is an advantage over mine?
BTW; My WinME is tweaked ofcourse. 95% System Resources free and only Eplorer.exe and SFP running after boot.
