Thanks man.
Oh I forgot to mention. No, that was no POD. I have experimented quite much with direct recording though and I have come up with a quite complex rig.
I use an ENGL Powerball 100W head into a Palmer ADIG-LB (advanced direct injection for guitar, bass on 'deep', treble on 'mellow') and then use a Weber MASS 100 (silent speaker driver) as the load. I then record the output on the Palmer and post-EQ some. I raised 6.4KHz some 6db or so.
Also, I double tracked the "rhythm/drone" part.
Guitar is a Yamaha 412-D6 (baritone) tuned to standard A#.
I feel I have reached my goal at last as to having good DI tone. Or at least I am closer than ever before.
I think you can get quite good results with a POD also, but it takes some more tweaking. There is this guy on the http://www.harmony-central.com forum called 'Acle' who I think has succeded quite well.

WOW . . . impressive.
I liked the way the guitar sounded as if it was miles away or being played from a height - beaming down from a tall building somewhere.
Kind of Post-Apocalyptic theme going there.
Then right at the end the guitar is at face level when that bit of feedback kicks in.
