Well I was curious about the pro one so I decided to download the demo, now typicaly I have always used Pro52/53 for my Prophet type sounds, and have always adored the NI Pro52/53, so I just had to see if the ProOne was as good or better, now keeping in mind these are not the same device there are going to be differences but they are targeted at the same synth line and sound.

The 1st part will be a basic trance type lead playing a simple pattern, the 1st bar will be the ProOne followed directly by the Pro53, there is no break in sound they play straight through, the 1st part is effected, the second pert is dry.

In my opinion I found the synths to both sound rather good around middle C, clearly better sounding with the patch effect running, but decent dry.

Now the 2nd part of this file is a simple single note playing I think 3 notes moving down the scale, in a lower octave than previous, this is where you really start to notice the biggest difference, the CW synth hangs in there for the most part and plays the single note fairly true, where as the Pro53 pretty much chokes and dies, the sound is harsh and ugly, pretty much not usable..

So for this test I used stock patches, I found two that were as close as I could get with out creating from scratch, but clearly the ProOne has a more realistic and fatter analog sound..

You be the judge

Wow i can't believe how bad Pro53 sounds in the lower registers (which is where i spend most of my time). Would be nice to hear it against Zarg's Prophet Plus. Now go and tell the native world. On second thoughts don't bother, they won't believe you anyway.

Now of course nobody's going to buy the Pro-53 because it sounds bad in the lower register?

It sounds great otherwise to me. I like the old synths and their emulations are becoming more and more of a joy to hear so compare all you want, I love the Prophets

oh! and Yes the Pro-One blows the Prophet 53 away

mmm, i don't know... of coarse, the differences are here for all to hear, but there are so many factors you have to take into consideration. i admit never having used vsti's extensively, but just want to be as objective as possible. you have to be sure that both synths are tested under the same conditions, or better, under all conditions.
don't try and tell this on other fora... you'll be hammered... this comparison lacks 'scientific proof'.
don't get me wrong, i too want to belief the difference is a true one  and hope you stay as happy with your new set up as you seem now...

pro-one certainly has more beef and pork!!! I have always said that most(all) analog emulating vstis suck!

how about a similiar test but with cutoff and reso sweeps?
