Here is a demo I threw together to show the more ambient side of the "uber". The synth is done, I am currently working on presets and the spec sheet.
This track features six instances of the uberPLASTIC, with absolutely no EQing or dynamic-effects. Only reverb and delays were added for mixing. All mixing was done in SFP and recorded into Cubase SX. Only SFP effects were used. All of the sounds are slightly modified (to suit this particular track) presets that I have made for the release.
I can't wait to release this thing, sorry for the wait, these things take time.
Thanks for listening!
Best Regards,
Stephen

PS: of course, the MP3-compression really mushed-up everything, especially the high frequencies and filtered noise, etc...

This sounds very beautiful to my ears! Nice atmospheare and not with a happy ending....
Very interesting sounds - well chosen and well used.
It has been very intersting to follow the development of the Uberplastic.
Cheers!

We loved it very much! My wife said the sound would surround her entirely. I think this is quite accurate, because me too, I can feel kind of a 3D sound effect. Perhaps, the most interesting aspect of this demo are the morphing transitions of the sound. It is so smoth, that you don´t realize that after a 40 seconds, the sound starts becoming raghfer, but you still are feeling like in the beginning... like something smoth. This is a MUCH apreciated effect for enybody searching for his music to be ALIVE!
I would like very much to own this instrument in the future.
I´m glad you posted it here, cheers...

what you describe is very much my style of writing this kind of music... things sneaking up on you and shifting gradually, I'm glad you felt this. the 3D effect on the synths is, in part, provided by the stereo-panning control on the "uber" itself and the rest is just my mixing style. On 2003-08-10 14:32, Nestor wrote:

i'm really trying to get the "uber" done so that you guys can try it out! thanks for the nice comments. i'm currently trying to design a fair bit of range on the preset list to show various possibilities... i've actually done some gamelan-style gong sounds a couple days ago, which sound quite real (i'm a huge fan of gamelan music). On 2003-08-11 09:01, Thalamus wrote:
This thing sounds awesome. I wanna have it for my space project.
The song is going straight into my body, there where it should.
The stuff that sounds like gated woodblocks is supernice, and the pads are thick and WARM.
I see landscapes from the wastelands of Africa.
Cool, I love gamelan music too! Especially from Java, which has a truely hypnotic, trance like style. I've played gamelan a few times too with my class during my study. It was much harder than I thought, because the music was so hypnotic, I was constantly forgetting that I was playing myself tooOn 2003-08-11 13:55, wavelength wrote:

BTW, I could upload a song I made with my SY99 gamelan sounds, if you're interested.

What I miss a bit, is new development on leads... Let me explain you: First, at least to my impression, there were just emulations of the old great synths which were analogue, then came the search for those fantastic synths which were much more complex giving us new posibilities and sounds, cos the old analogue ones were far too many and the market was overflooded with them.
The atmospheric ones are starting comming out, like yor new "UBER", and this really IS needed, cos there are no much of it, and everybody is searching for great, larg, morphing ladscapes to flow onto, I am one of those.
Leads sounds are apparently simpler sounds, cos they are just a one note timber, but I´m looking for really great and extremely morphing lead capabilities, with completely new sounds and positilities. Leads have been left out for quite a lont time, and it would be nice to have one for exclusive use for leads. This, at the same time, would give the posibility to you, the to use a lot of resurces without problems cos it would be not so hangry, we need a one-note-instrument for leads a mean.
Perhaps the "UberLead" will too be born?

the "uber" is a powerful lead machine, but then so can the "sparC" and "europa" be. almost any synth can be a great instrument for lead sounds, just depends on what you are after. you can definitely do morphing lead-sounds on the "uber", though, especially when using the aftertouch to modulate various frequencies... you can do expressive timbre shifts with one simple gesture. On 2003-08-12 12:07, Nestor wrote:

yes the track is "uber" only, with delay effects and reverb added for the mix. all panning is from the "uber" and all sounds are played from the synth "as is", no compression or EQ, etc...On 2003-08-12 16:29, paulrmartin wrote:

mind you, these sounds just represent one "vibe" that the synth can produce, I am making very classic and also very brutal presets with this thing. I keep getting new preset ideas, which is delaying the release! I'll have to stop pretty quick here...
thanks for listening!
I am aiming for the release before the end of this week (fingers crossed).
Hi Stephen,
Sorry it took me some time, but for some reason I was unable to upload the song to the PlanetZ server, so I'll had to make some free space at my own web space.
But here is my gamelan inspired piece of music:
