Or more like I don't have time to fiddle with it before the presentation.

I've mixed together a couple of performances by the generator, and tied them together into a 30 minute non-stop mix. Sometimes a I left the engine performing too long and the tune may become boring.. bear with me.

Notice genearting 30 minutes only took like 40 minutes.

All comments welcome! I'm just glad I was able to get this far in the "automatic" concept. The thing is, I have to teach the engine every single detail, but it learns it perfectly. So it's kind of like teaching a student. And I'm glad my half-decent pupil has grown this much.

You should send it to Max/Msp makers, really  Why does the 'song' stop between all the phrases (I don't mean the crossfades but the bars). I know it isn't meant to but am just curious what is the reason? Is it the Max limitation or just because it's a rehearsal only or it's offline???

the jitter between the bars is because my CPU isn't fast enough. (1ghz on my powerbook g4) The actual system runs on a dual 1.2ghz so that's no problem. During the jitters, max/msp tries to keep the clocks running at a constant rate. Has to do with the fact that the buffer's work very strangely in max/msp

Nobody's and nothing's perfect. As I can see the Cycling's programs (overal) are very creative tools but - as always - in right hands. And yours are

thanks. Building this engine was a great learning experience. I ended up finally learning how to program in max/msp, and also gave me a chance to thing about what exactly constitutes what we call "music". No wonder people say that teaching is part of a learning process.

it's a software that I wrote. It composes these tunes automatically. Literally, witha press of a button.
