Is it a smart device? Does somebody have any experience with it? Is it suitable for creating some nice carpets using pulsar 1 and 2 SRB?

The Vectron is a wavetable type synthesizer. You have four wavetypes that you can morph between. You can program the rate of change between waves and design loops, etc. There are a number of wavetypes that come with the Synth but if you don't like those you can extract your own wave from any standard audio file. I believe the size of the wave is 128 bits, something like that. There are a number of modulation possibilities with LFO's, delays and the like. Those who have worked with hardware wavetable synthesis says it doesn't compare in quality but I've never owned the hardware type and I'm a bit an amateur music maker so I think it's quite powerful. It would be quite good for creating atmosphery, synth beds.

I heard something about a cut-down version of Vectron (Vectron Player?) being offered for Creamware OS 3.0 and/or XTC...

that might explain the sale - CW [cheap arses  ]are probably tryin to squeeze a bit o' money out of us before we get the OS 3 with the player, cuz less will be likely to buy it then - brilliant marketing

I haven't seen the details on the Vectron Player for XTC but I would imagine you wouldn't be able to extract your own waves or define the loop points between the built in waves. But that's just a guess.

Hi,
The Vectron Player has very few controls: Cutoff, Resonance, the chorus and the delay, the wheel and the "joystick" for modulate the 4 osc...but has a lot of presets.
Vectron (full version) is a lot more powerful for tweaker users
best regards,
