A Virus patch, a bass in my current song, is reacting in a strange way.
The notes sometimes seem to play an octave higher, and also they seem to sound double, coz the body of the sound is thin then.
Looking for the reason of this, I checked the midi editer, there are notes and pitch bend information.
One value I can't explain, check out the picture:
picture*
[no picture, see follow-up]
As you can see the PB value changes from 68 to 127, then in one jump back to neutral, being 64.
You see the 127 in the second last row of the first value colom?
This happens everytime PB reaches 127.
All other values in that colom show zero.
What does it mean?
Is it normal?
*EDIT:
hehe, how do I include a screen shot in a post?

One strange Pitch Bend value at 127...
so this is the Midi editor picture
:
1st row:...........0...........64.............Pitch-Bend
.....
.....
3rd last row: ..0..........112............ Pitch-Bend
2nd last row: 127.......127.............Pitch-Bend
Last row :...... 0...........64...............Pitch-Bend
So I was talking about the second row specially
The first number-colom shows just zero's, except the second last one with PB 127.

Hubird, I think on the Virus it's just like most synths: you can have a general setup for the values of the modwheel and various settigs in the soundpatches how to interpret those values (modwheel range).
If you just wonder about the jumps then these could be caused by errors of the resistor readout of the wheel - usually it's a mechanical part.
cheers, Tom

thanks alot Stub and Astro.
I know what you're talking about Stubbe, I also thought about that.
If I'm right the first clom is supposed to be a non variable one, the second is in fact the variable pitchbend parameter, so I dunno...
Astro, I know about those 'recipients', but they are default.
It's my old Korg 707 wich is sending the pitchbends, I hope it's not my Virus-A wich is getting old.
Have no time now, I come back after checking out things, thanks sofar.

hi there,
When I had my Korg EA1 its knobs were also double controlled. I don't know much of midi specs but I just recorded a knob movement to my cubase then observed the controller window in cubase and if any data was recorded there was a dot before the controller name. This way I discovered this phenomenon for myself
It was a controller and a LSB or MSB or any other nasties (USB? <- no, just joking)

double controlled, yes I know, like with a bank change, you need #0 then #1.
BTW, I discoverd why my Virus behave strange: my PC1600 has a few fader controllers wich constantly change value randomly.
I have to exchange them, there are three of them already
I programmed some faders for the Beast synth, controllers 74 and 75, so with the Virus midi track activated a LFO picked up the random information, and got crazy, hehe.
Atom, how's your PC1600, do you know if I can exchange a fader by myself, I know how so solder?
Hm, probably it's not the faders but some electronics.
