It's very minimalistic, I only used the DubSub for the deep buzzy bass. The rest is SR202 drum machine(VSTi) some loops and assorted incidental samples

Thanks Chris - your comments are appreciated. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now.
I think Thalamus mentioned the virtues of resisting the temptation to use way too many layers on beats and I'm seeing the truth in that now.

haha. yes, i like this much better than the rigors track. this would easily find a spot on my cd shelves.
indeed a nice minimal techno track. because of the assorted cheesyness maybe more suited for the living room than a dance hall, but that's certainly not ment as negative criticism...
great track
btw: were are the tracks!? i'm ready for 'em

that one sound is too loud in the mix to me, or you could mix it in more specificly.
hehehe, yeah you're right. I intentionally did this - but without giving the length of the composition a thought. I does get annoying and sounds out of place in the mix. I'll play with that and maybe just make a few surprise bursts instead of all of them being so loud. Thanks

One of those minimalistic types of tracks that keeps you captivated throughout. I like how you introduce new textures from time to time, or just an additional note now and again (Philip Glass style).
I enjoyed this a lot - thanks for uploading and sharing it.
Personally, I felt that panning a few of the instruments/samples a little bit wider in the mix would have improved it, but it was 5 in the morning and regardless of my thoughts, it's a great track
Thanks Neil B
I'm glad you liked this, I like your suggestion of playing with the panning to add more interest. I will be doing a new mix with some volume adjustments and will have a go at livening up the width of the tune as well.
This is the best thing about this forum - you learn that there is ALWAYS more you can do to improve a track. Thanks heaps for your input and interest - well appreciated.

Yes,
there is always more that you can do to a track, but at some point you have to decide that it is finished and walk away from it.
Most pro artists have said that they look back on a track after 12 months and wish they'd done something else with it. They also say that once a track is finished and they have spent so long on it, that they no longer like it.
At some stage you have to decide that it is done, it makes the statement that you wanted it to make, and move on to the next track.
But I agree with you, this forum/site is superb for helping you to improve a track etc.
Interesting as always, but not as good as your other stuff. I thought that it was a bit repetitive (sorry), but nevertheless I thought it was still well done.
